Karthik or Jadhav at number 6 in ODIs?

I think we should be flexible based on match situations  while using.  5, 6, 7 .

In some matches a quick 20-30 would be more important so you can try Hardik or DK if required at no.4 .

Also one more strategy should be to treat 5 overs in 20-30 over slot  and another 5 in 30-40 over  slot  rather than saving all the fire power for the last 10. those 5 overs need not be tried in a seqeunce  to catch oppents wrong footed.
