Thanks to some brilliant work by Varun, we have a cricket stats DB. Here are some query results from that DB I queried only on the 50 over games. I have also eliminated trivial results (min criteria for player selection is atleast 10 chases) Filter-1: Performances in 250+ chases (criteria for success: Runs scored >= 40) Filter-2: Performances in 275+ chases (criteria for success: Runs scored >= 50) Filter-3: Performances in 300+ chases (criteria for success: Runs scored >= 75) Attached is the HTML version of the tables

Stats show that SRT's performances in tough chases have been pretty decent. Am surprised that Inzi who is regarded by many fellow Pak fans as a much better player under pressure does not figure in the top 20 in any of these chases.

When batting second, his batting index drops drastically to 22.64, a difference of more than 23. ================= How do these batsmen fare when the target gets stiffer? Put in a cut-off of a target of 240 or more and Ricky Ponting comes out right on top, with a stunning average of 65.11. India's captain follows him closely in second place, suggesting that the two captains could have plenty to do during run-chases during the CB Series finals. In fact, the top six in the list are batsmen who are and were involved in this series, and three of the top four are Australians. Thanks for the stats work Bumper and varun. Amazing how much belief people have in SRT being a non starter in the 2nd innings while chasing 250+ totals is. In fact, he is the best bat while chasing 300+ totals! :top: Myth blown to pieces.

interesting stats ! for me, theres not too many better than michael bevan. would easily make the best all time ODI team in my opinion. KO1XL8_ezVM we were 6/38 at one stage in that game. the thing with bevan was he did it best when under immense pressure, rescuing us from near certain defeat. also the way he paced the innings with hard running between the wickets, then increasing the run rate was brilliant

Today's match once again confirmed that Hussey certainly is no Bevan when chasing totals.

is this the innings where Bevan hit Harper for straight 4 to win the game. Bevan was class in ODIs, not sure why he could not become test batsman. He was decent ball as well. M Taylor used him as 2nd spinner and batting allrounder.
