Nothing changes. Some will criticize him if he fails in the next game. Some will say he didn't average as much as Gambhir or Hussey did so he's not that good. Expect some to post average for 7 days before this game and mention he's not consistent :D

Thal called it, as usual. Tendulkar and Rohit were at the crease, having scored some 20 odd runs together. Thal PMed me saying, "I have a feeling Sachin is going to guide Rohit through this chase". And again later, "It's lovely to see a great batsman pass the baton onto his successor". There will be threads spouting all over this forum by opportunists who do nothing but slam India when they lose and then come and eulogise players when they win, but Thal (Salil) had picked out Rohit as one of the brightest stars in India's horizon many moons ago, way before others even had an idea that he possesses the straightest of bats he displayed today, and the most phlegmatic of temparaments. Even Thal will agree though that as good as Rohit might be, nobody can ever replace Tendulkar. It's just so demoralising to see people knock his second innings record in ODIs after he's spent his greatest summer in Test cricket in Australia, scoring two big tons when his team needed them the most. It's as if people need the slightest excuse to knock him off his pedestal. If he scores Test match tons, then it's the ODIs. If he maxes it in the first innings of ODIs, then it's his weakness chasing totals. Or finals. Or something. Doesn't come any better than this, does it? Anchored the innings from first ball to last, going at damn near a run a ball, played some exhilarating shots others can only dream of, and urged an youngster to believe in himself and dream about achieving the greatness on display at the other end of the pitch. And what about his conduct when Brett Lee beamed him? No reproach, not even a stare, just a tacit acknowledgement that a mistake had been made, let's move on, no problem. Class! Bullies like Hayden, Symonds and delinquent schoolboy wannabes like Harbhajan must learn from this man that grace and humility can co-habit in the same being with unadulterated excellence. This, the greatest batsman the modern era has seen, and what's more, he's just such a great human being too.
