Predator_05 Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Most, if not all Indian cities could make up the top 25 on their own. They are filthy as hell. I don't how people manage to live in certain parts of Delhi, ie; Paharganj. The sustenance of such poor living conditions should be a serious human rights issue, one punishable by law. Unfortunately Indians tend to be pretty dirty, so the idea of cleanliness goes right over their heads.

How on earth is Mumbai or Delhi 'dirtier' than countless cities in Africa, where there is no basic hygene for the ENTIRE city, not just slums that are deprived of it. Secondly, Kolkata actually has improved in the last 5-6 years as far as filth goes- its drainage system has improved considerably,though smog is starting to be a major health concern. Unfortunately Indians tend to be pretty dirty, so the idea of cleanliness goes right over their heads. I noticed that too and thats the funny thing about Indians- in terms of PERSONAL hygene, they are just about the most hygenic in the world- not even the white people out here take as many regular baths/showers as desis do. From your local 'kaamwali' to big honcho, everyone i've come across from India take ATLEAST one shower a day religiously. But Indians on the other hand, are willing to put up with surprising amount of filth, just as long as its out on the streets. Make a big garbage dump in some moholla and atmost 2-3 people will get pissed off, the rest will just walk on the other sidewalk and bear the stench, the filth and the eyesore with a grin. On the other hand, most of the world gets pretty damn aggravated with public littering & dumping. Weird combination,indeed.
retterimp Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 wrong... we have to be one of the cleanest people in the world. we take showers atleast once a day. also remember we are one of the few peoples that actually wash our hands with water instead of wiping it on a napkin(DISGUSTING) after having food...a much healthier option its just that when it comes to civic sense, we sadly dont give a sh!t abt our country, whereas we keep our homes in immaculate condition

As i said, its a dichotomy, its not valid to claim that Indians are more hygenic than the rest- they most clearly are not, but they arn't worse either.

cochise Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Indians as far as personal hygiene go have to be amongst the cleanest in the world. Even the poorest of the poor you see bathing everyday in the nullahs with what soap they have. But paradoxically, they seem to tolerate humongous amounts of civic dirt in the cities, slums etc. Strange indeed.
