Rohit Sharma's performance in key matches:

2015 WC semi final -  While chasing target of 329 he scored 34 runs in 48 balls; s/r 78

2016 t20 WC -   5 matches 88 runs;s/r  107.31

2017 CT final -  out on zero

2019 WC semi final - scored just 1 run while chasing small target of 240.

His average in tests outside India is below 30.

In nutshell Rohit is a typical flat track player who performs only when there is virtually no lateral movement of ball and wickets are relatively slow so that he has ample time to react.Whenever there is seam/swing and/or pace in wicket, and he is up against quality bowling,he almost always fails.

Team management is promoting him ahead of player like Gill, who recently became youngest Indian player to score first class double hundred outside(on seaming wicket) India. They have not learned anything from WC defeat and want to continue with proven failures like Rohit instead of grooming Gill for Test Championship/ t20 WC.
