King Tendulkar Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 How the hell has Gambhir not be chosen ahead of kaif!!! Seriously this is ridiculous!
theguyinallblue Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 arre..DSR..tere ko Kaif se kya problem hai...does your GF compare you with Kaif... i know many Girls Find Zaheer and Kaif very HOT for their intense looks..:D
CC1981 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 How the hell has Gambhir not be chosen ahead of kaif!!! Seriously this is ridiculous! Only thing ridiculous here is your fanaticism for Gambhir, along with a marked amatuer interpretation of the game. Gambhir is an OPENER. In Tests, OPENING is a specialist position. Openers don't play in the middle order and RARELY do they play at any spot outside opening- occasionally openers have come in at #3 but with a strong #3 in Dravid and Laxman being the next in line for #3 post, that position is never an option for Gambhir. The replacement is for Tendulkar,a #4 bat, a bonafide middle order bat. Now, i don't agree with Kaif's selection either- I'd have tried Sharma/Tiwary- but the KEY is all of them are MIDDLE ORDER BATS, slotting in for an injured MIDDLE ORDER BAT. Gambhir is NOT a middle order bat and therefore, he is rightly left out. Just that simple, really.
King Tendulkar Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 GG has the ability to bat anywere. He could easily slot in at number 4. He is good player of spin and could adjust no probs. Its all about your abilty to bat not what number you are sterotyped as. Moving a middle order batter to opener is more tricky. He would not be the first opener to slot in to middle order and succed!
CC1981 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 He would not be the first opener to slot in to middle order and succed! Name a few then, who've batted below #3 and succeeded!
CC1981 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Hello, dsr, i am still waiting for you to name a few openers who've batted in the middle order in tests and succeeded....remember, #3 is off limits, since Gambhir would NOT be a #3 as long as Dravid/Laxman are in the team...feel free to tell me which openers have succeeded at position #4-7 as you said 'he would not be the first opener to slot in to middle order and succeed'.
King Tendulkar Posted April 1, 2008 Author Posted April 1, 2008 Bonjour CC good morning:D Er let me amend my statement and say many openers have adjusted for 1 or 2 games in the middle order and been very successful. Quite frankly could not think of any long term:haha: Maybe another poster can help me out:pray: There you go CC I have given you the chance, now post a 100 word post slamming me. I genuinley look forward to reading it:D
King Tendulkar Posted April 1, 2008 Author Posted April 1, 2008 GG should be in the team. He can easily bat at 4 at do well! Especially as he is top player of spin!
fineleg Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Is it time for Wasim Jaffer to pack his bags after comprehensively proving he is a Flat Track Bully? Flat pitch - 50s, 100s etc. Not so - gone after a clueless knock. I dont know if Gambhir is a good replacement, but maybe thats what needs to be tried out at Kanpur.
Desi Cartman Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 GG or Chopra or for that matter anybody else .... WJ can not bat when the pitch is doing anything at all
fineleg Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 GG or Chopra or for that matter anybody else .... WJ can not bat when the pitch is doing anything at all Wa-'Seam' Jaffer :haha:
msb1991 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 GG or Chopra or for that matter anybody else .... WJ can not bat when the pitch is doing anything at all Perhaps Dinesh Karthik - he proved himself as a star on seaming pitches in England and his drop from the team was hasty. He merely struggled against the Shoaib Akthar - it is not as if he is the first to do so.
NeoCon Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Test Squad: Sehwag Ghambhir Dravid Tendulkar Laxman Ganguly Dhoni Kumble Harbhajan Zaheer *Which ever fast bowler is in form...*
amits Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 gambhir avged over 100 in the ranji trophy this season & also gambhir has been our best odi batsman in the last 1 year. having jaffer & yuseless over gambhir in tests is a disgrace. gambhir can be played as an opener or even at no.3. and gambhir has an excellent record against sl in odis as well & can play muralitharan better than most players in the indian team
