he scored less than 20 runs in two innings. and on previous occassions where he has been asked to open' date=' he has been dismissed quite easily. not to mention that when we place emphasis on his batting, his bowling declines. a better question would be... does irfan deserve to be in the team? is his bowling that penetrating or his batting that brilliant that he can replace a batsman and a bowler? in test matches he is our very own abdul razzak, cant bowl too well nor can he bat too well, but because he has a few choice exploits in the past, he is still around.[/quote'] agreed, Irfan has to concentrate on his bowling. His place is first as a bowler then a useful batsman(bonus) in the team. Certainly, he needs some serious thinking and rigorous training to improve his pace, line-length and swing. Otherwise, very soon he will be a history like 1983 WC hero Balwinder Singh Sandhu after a year of WC.

Jaffer is now a liability. Gambhir, Chopra or Karthik should have been inducted in his place. Don't know what the selectors know though. Maybe they see something more in him than we are seeing in the middle...or maybe they feel that as a partnership with Sehwag, they have been doing well together even though Jaffer doesn't score much and thus do not want to break it. Don't quite agree though, as the only good partnership this series was the one in Chennai. Well, hope they know what they are doing. And lets also hope that Jaffer shapes up quicksmart, because it looks like he is opening again, unless they go for a makeshift opener in Pathan.
