Guest Hiten.
Sachin Tendulkar is yet to recover from his groin injury that kept him out of the ongoing second Test against South Africa in Ahmedabad and will also miss the third Test in Kanpur, starting on April 11. The Indian board confirmed this in a release and added that he would continue with his rehabilitation program. "This decision has been taken to give Sachin the opportunity to make a full recovery from this injury," the release said. "Sachin has a rehabilitation program to continue with and will be monitored closely." Tendulkar didn't appear fully fit during the first Test in Chennai and missed part of the action on the first, second, fourth days. He didn't take the field on the fifth day and was rested for the next Test. Tendulkar was advised two-weeks rest after the Australia tour and the then physio, John Gloster, in his fitness report, warned against the injury entering a chronic phase. http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/ci/content/current/story/345135.html Link to comment

cochise
It is better in the long run...if the groin injury becomes chronic, we will lose him for good. He needs time for it to heal and not aggravate it further. Link to comment

msb1991
It would be good if this thread was just general discussion of Indian seamers as it would save a lot of threads, but anyway... VRV Singh is undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA, so he is out of the question. RP Singh has looked unfit and has been expensive and inaccurate - which is a big no-no in India. Sreesanth has a poor FC record and has shown a lack of mental strength - despite being gifted with a perfectly straight seam and good natural action. Ishant Sharma and Irfan Pathan were bowling stars in Australia and so both should play as the new ball pair. If another seaming wicket has been prepared, I'd get Munaf Patel in for Harbhajan Singh, but since that is unlikely, I'd go with Harbhajan and Kumble too. 8. Pathan 9. Kumble 10. Harbhajan/Munaf 11. Ishant Sharma Link to comment
msb1991
IS won't play ..... BCCI wants him in IPL ! Or maybe they don't want to risk their premier fast bowling prospect by playing him when he is unfit. Either way, your theory is rubbish, simply because their are many other stars than Ishant Sharma to be the attractions of the IPL. Link to comment
Yuvraj4Captaincy
Yuvraj singh should play if this is certainly the case. Link to comment
Guest whineleg
This is a good thing coz SRT has been yuseless in this seriez and he also has the worst 4th inningz test record chasing 350-400+ scorez. his batting average in this seriez is 0 and that is so bad!! itz time we stopped choosing playerz like him who average 0 I think if he play he will choke in both inningz like he alwayz doez and so will anyone else who replacez him coz india are being treated like minnowz by south afrika Link to comment

Laaloo
Ishant to undergo fitness test on Sunday Selection for Kanpur Test Ishant to undergo fitness test on Sunday Cricinfo staff April 5, 2008 Ishant Sharma: set for a return in Kanpur? © Getty Images Ishant Sharma is set to undergo a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore on Sunday in order to determine his availability for the third Test against South Africa in Kanpur, which starts on April 11. The team for the final match is expected to be selected at the end of the Ahmedabad Test. Ishant, who starred in the Tests and the ODIs on the Australia tour, was advised complete rest for three weeks by the then physio, John Gloster. He had a problem in the big toe of his landing foot as well as an inflammation in the right forefinger. He underwent some tests at the NCA before the start of the South Africa series but had not attained full fitness. He was with the team at both Chennai and Ahmedabad, and has been monitored by Paul Close, the physio. Anil Kumble hoped Ishant would be fully fit for the Ahmedabad Test but the team decided to give him a bit more time. Murali Kartik, the left-arm spinner, is also expected to be tested in Bangalore on Sunday. Kartik was included in the squad for the first two Tests but an ankle sprain sustained on the day of the selection ruled him out for three weeks. Joginder Sharma, VRV Singh and Sudeep Tyagi are the others currently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA. © Cricinfo come on ishanttttttttttttttttttttttttttt Link to comment
