umpire
one bad session why do we keep having one real bad session. In SA tour we had bad session in 3rd Test and eventually lost the test. Mind you we had 400+ runs on the board and should have won the game. In Sydney we had one bad session and we lost the game that we should not have. Against England at home we had one bad session and lost the test match. Now in Motera we had horrible session and we lost the game then and there. So why do we keep having odd bad session and ruining the test matches. Link to comment
Desi Cartman
to add to the list (4 years ago though) in Melbourne after Veeru scored 190 odd .. India lost 7 wickets in 1 session :(( Link to comment

Umpire you have laid out the frustration of Indian fans really well in this post- it is really really annoying to see this happen over and over again In Sydney, for example despite the umpiring and the crybabies Aussies it is still hard to digest that in the end we just had to play couple of overs with 3 wkts in hand and we lost them all in 1 over against a part time bowler like Micheal Clark unfortunately there are no answers Link to comment

Mr. Wicket
Oh NO, he's part of a solid opening stand on a cracked, uneven pitch and is averaging over 50 this series. How very crap, boring, pathetic, disgraceful, etc. Feeling frustrated? Link to comment

Guest Hiten.
Who exactly is the tourist ? Us or them ? In the first 2 test matches, SA played as if they were playing at home. In the ongoing test, 'spinning tracks' looks the least to bother them. They are playing our spin attack quite ridiculously easily. Where is the crowd that shouted for spinning tracks ? SA are making a mockery of your pleads by playing even better than A'bad test match. I still think A'bad was our only chance to go One up in this series. Face it guys, our future is pretty dull when you look in our spinners arsenal. If SA manages to score anything more than 400, we will be looking down the barrel and can surely expect SA to lift the trophy 1-0 :(( On lighter note, what will happen to neo sports' campaign "India's road to #1" :hysterical: Link to comment
King
Smith's about to create history Tics. He looks a tough batsman that knows to play percentage cricket. Link to comment
King
Perhaps they are a better team than India??? If they win this one, IMO they are the second best behind the Aussies. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
How to bowl spin on a cracked, uneven pitch 1. Don't give the ball lots of air 2. Bowl quicker, flatter and thus don't give the batsmen the chance to move on the back foot easily and handle the turn/awkward bounce from there 3. Note how Kumble and Venkatapathy Raju had bowled through most of the 90s on last-day pitches, or how Michelle Clarke and Murali Kartik bowled at Mumbai in 04, or how Kumble and Yuvraj bowled in the final hour at Bangalore (and note WHY Kumble brought Yuvraj on). After ten+ years of playing cricket at various levels, and most of those years alongside Kumble, why the FACK can Harbhajan Singh still not figure it out and stop bowling slow and loopy spin on a cracked pitch, and save that style for the flat tracks where he fires in his darts? King
It's not how fast it turns that gets wickets often Salil but the bounce. Most international cricketers can handle spin quite easily if it doesn't bounce awkwardly. Variable bounce and ball gripping the surface are two things that make spin bowling unplayable. This pitch is not as underprepared as they thought. I think you will see the true nature of the pitch in about a day or two. 3rd day I reckon will pose a lot of problems. Link to comment
Guest Hiten.
Bhajji should be blamed for not using his brains while bowling on this pitch. That too with the absence of AK. Meh... even our pace bowlers deserve to get some stick with the pathetic runs/wicket they have given us. Ind - SA pace bowlers avg in this series. Ind - 192 SA - 26 fawking sheeet Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Even then Ravi, there's a certain method for bowling on certain types of pitches. When the wicket is flat, spinners do need to give the ball a bit more air and rip. When the wicket's turning a fair bit and offering uneven bounce (which this is doing to some extent), the bowlers need to push it through a bit quicker and let the pitch do more work, while putting a bit more pace on the ball. The point is that Harbhajan has a history of doing the exact opposite (and you will find similar posts along these lines from shwetabh and I over several tests in the past) and taking the most brainless, painful approach to bowling as he possibly can.
