maniac Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Atheists at least the ones I have come across are mostly idiots because they are rigid with their view point about god and subconsciously also follow a certain doctrine just as the radical religious folk do. Obviously there are various shades of how extreme someone is just like it is in the case of people who are religious. Usually atheists give you the whole “I believe in science” argument. I am not a science guy but I know this much that most if not all research is based on hypothesis. So they are ready to accept something were there is always a supposition but want evidence when it comes to concept of god. The basic premise of science itself is to keep an open mind and explore and be open to possibilities. This is not so much different from the prime concept of say Vedanta etc. If the Atheists gripe is with organized religion and not god that would make them agnostic not atheists. On hypocrisy itself Atheists lose this moral battle. On topic, we know being selfish or lying is absolutely essential to survive. Where you draw the line is for you to decide those shades of grey. That comes from your basic upbringing. As a kid everything told to you is black and white. You figure out your shade of grey between good and bad, based on life situations and circumstances even when you know in your heart if it is right or wrong. It’s not like our parents had the time to sit down and explain what is right or wrong on every damn thing, they had a 100 different things to take care of . It is conveyed either by religious teachings or religious stories with morals. If you don’t believe in god as an atheist and want to explain to a 5 year old legally on what is appropriate or how to be a good person good luck with that. I am not saying it cannot be done but it will take a lot of effort. No one pays attention to moral Science in school anyways. This is where religion and fear of god kicks in to make you a better person. That’s my take. Rant over which I am not even sure is related to this thread
