Shardul Thakur - Ajit Agarkar of 2020s?

thakur is, IMO, a better test bowler than Sir Aggy. also a better test batsman. in ODIs, I think Sir Aggy would have taken many wkts today but been even more expensive.

The closest to any cricketer that Shardul Thakur resembles to is Azhar Mehmood of Pakistan, a partnership breaker and a late order hitter. Very similar type of players.

There is some similarity. Both are not credited for their contribution. Agarkar was decently quick. As a matter of fact, for those times he had genuine pace. As a bowler, Agarkar was easily 2 notches above Thakur. As a batsman too, he had a lot of potentials. 

Shardul has the essence though and I feel he will contribute a lot to the ODI team.

The difference between the 2 I feel is, Agarkar was hugely talented, was quick in pace, but never did justice to his talent. 

Shardul does not have the same talents, but overachieves with whatever limitations he has.
