zen
In Tests, 1 wkt = how many runs? In general, many would say that 1 wkt = 20 runs as a) a 5-er = a 100, and b) Batsmen and bowlers tend to be around 8,000 runs and 400 wkts respectively at 100 test mark. However, what is the closest ratio? To find out, I looked at top retired batsmen (not as WK) and bowlers (pacers) since 1990 with 50 or more tests (excl. BD & Zim), below is the selected list: Top 5 in terms of runs per inning (RPI): Sangakkara 54.74 Lara 51.14 Sehwag 48.44 Tendulkar 46.56 Kallis 46.21 Wt Avg 48.72 Top 5 pacers in terms of wickets per inning (WPI): Donald 2.57 Steyn 2.53 Akram 2.46 Ambrose 2.37 McGrath 2.34 Wt Avg 2.44 Per the basket above, 1 wicket = 20 runs!
