Zakhmi
he is the successor for the number 4 position wenever SRT decides to hang his boots..of course he cant replace SRT but he is indias future number 4..the next class batsman frm bombay.. I wish this comes true to us, but he has to be consistent and should have nerves of steel to face any sort of opp. attack. There are mainly two areas where he needs to improve: He should face all sort of pace and bowling with the same efficiency and next thing is that, he needs to provide stability to the batting order with his utmost regular performances. amits
rohit sharma has been doing well in the ipl, but his team needs to have their foreign players do well too and amongst the youngsters - rohit sharma, uthappa, manoj tiwary, raina and co - rohit sharma looks to be the best one of these & is the 2nd best batsman we have in odi/ 20/20 after gambhir
graphic23
rohit sharma has been doing well in the ipl, but his team needs to have their foreign players do well too and amongst the youngsters - rohit sharma, uthappa, manoj tiwary, raina and co - rohit sharma looks to be the best one of these & is the 2nd best batsman we have in odi/ 20/20 after gambhir I'd actually say that MS Dhoni has been our best batsmen in the ODIs for the past 8-10 months. Gambhir is the best in 20/20 no doubts. I'd say Dhoni, Gambhir, Yuvraj (before his recent loss/gain of form), Uthappa has been far too inconsistent. Of course, all these guys come after Sachin- well, actually, Dhoni has performed extremely consistently in the past few series - so he's probably our best player along with Sachin, and the fact that he's been a brilliant captain helps as well. With regards to the original thread though, he's been awesome for Deccan. If they have been able to save face for the past few matches, the credit has to go to Rohit for his super knocks. Vignesh
My money is on Rohit Sharma to inherit Saurav's 3 down spot in test cricket. He is a far batter fielder than uthappa. The only thing i did not like about him is that, he takes all the credit in post match ceremonies. He always says "Ya, I think I batted really well, Iam happy". Kid needs some tuition from Sachin on saying "Team wins, tho apun kush hua". Coming to technique, he looks like he will overtake even Laxman as a strokemaker. The shots have the fluency of Mark Waugh, timing of Ganguly... and man does he generate some power from those wrists. Imagine how how he will play when he is 28? Super! I guess... I know you shouldn't compare anyone with god, but even Sachin wasn't this good at 20. Eeeks... a lightning just struck here. P.S - Comparison doesn't include Gambhir, about whom I can write a book on how he plays spin. It does include the other under 22 year olds we are seeing in IPL. Man u've gotta be kidding me......... Sachin was tormenting attacks at that time.................... Rohit Will be a good Replacement for The wall............... Though rohit has to be far more consistent than he is now to fill in RD's shoes...........This guy has that potential to replace Rahul Dravid............ Gambhir will take SG's Slot.......... UV replacing laxman(crap in tests replacing crap in LOIs)

zaheer
Rohit is the most exciting Indian talent: Gilchrist Rohit is the most exciting Indian talent: Gilchrist Hari Hara Nandanan I TNN Chennai: Adam Gilchrist enjoys the retired life to the hilt. He has time to spare for his freinds, family and in the thick of IPL activity, he has time for his sponsors too. On Sunday, he appeared for a Puma promotion as part of his brand commitment and made it clear that though he has retired from cricket, he has been enjoying the Twenty20 IPL action. He has always liked India, its crowd and its energy levels. And then there is Rohit Sharma, who he thinks is the most exciting talent around in India at the moment. “Look, I am not going by his scores alone,’’ he told TOI. “He continues to impress me. Not just the way he scores, but his attitude too.’’ Gilchrist said the good thing of this first IPL championship is that it will throw up many such talents. “I don’t have to mention Rohit and Ishant, they have already played. There is a bowler with the Knight Riders (Ashok Dinda) and Manpreet Gony from Chennai. This will get bigger,’’ he said. Gilchrist admitted that the Twenty20 is tailor-made for batsmen because that is what ‘the crowd likes.’ Is there a way out for bowlers to get a levelplaying field in Twenty20? Maybe make the wickets in such a way that bowlers get more purchse? “No, I don’t agree with such a move,’’ replies Gilchrist. “I would say, you make your grounds (in India) bigger. More like in Australia. There the bowlers have more options to use their skills to get the batsmen out. In India, the grounds are smaller and even mishits may clear the boundary,’’ he explained. Gilchrist was surprised to see the sensational IPL takeoff and its effect on the Indian crowd. “I have not seen a sporting event topping a nation like this,’’ confessed the former Australian wicket-keeper. The Aussie did not want to be drawn into the controversy surrounding Shane Warne and Sourav Ganguly. “I did not see what happened. Obviously, there was a clash of opinions. But the authorities have made it clear that they will treat it seriously. They made a strong statement like they did in the Harbhajan case,’’ he said. The former Australian opener, who has the fastest IPL century so far in the competition, said his team, Hyderabad, was getting better and better after each match. “There are many positives from the previous match though we fell short in the end. We bowled well, we had a couple of good partnerships.’’ He had also a word of praise for Chennai captain MS Dhoni who can hit any ball anywhere in the ground. Gilchrist said he would miss Andrew Symonds in the Hyderabad team and he envied the position of Chennai before their clash at Chepauk on Tuesday. “Obviously, Chennai will have more confidence than us. They have lost only one match; we have won only one. Anyone can become favourites as there are many matches to go. I would like to be in Chennai’s position,’’ he said. Gilchrist said he had no plans to start an academy in India but many franchises in IPL are keen to start their own academies. “I am happy to come back to India and there is a variety of ways to do this,’’ he pointed out. So sorry for the delayed response, but onething is there...I never denied of his batting stuff ↓ I wish this comes true to us' date=' but he has to be consistent and should have nerves of steel to face any sort of opp. attack. There are mainly two areas where he needs to improve: He should face all sort of pace and bowling with the same efficiency and next thing is that, he needs to provide stability to the batting order with his utmost regular performances.[/quote'] Look its amazing to read this after today's match: The perfect squirt Rohit Sharma has carved out quite a reputation for classical strokeplay, even in this format. But the best shot he played today was a masterpiece of improvisation. When Rajat Bhatia pitched one full outside off stump, Rohit gave himself room, reached for the ball and tapped it with the toe end. It sped away, neatly bisecting the men at gully and point. Perfect. © Cricinfo
