The Realist Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 As much as Dhoni overstayed his welcome, at least Ind did not capitulate in limited overs cricket under him. We had Dhoniconda, strangle by spin, take it deep & last over heroics. Yet under Sharma the heaviest beatings have taken place under the captaincy of the heaviest player. Sharma has been a disaster as captain and opener, backing the wrong players and showing zero innovation/thinking outside the box. Are we missing the street-smarts and tactical nous of MSD?
cricketfan28 Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 May be better than sharma but not good enough. His yuvraj selection in 2014 costed us that final.
RameshPowar Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Post CT 2013 Under dhoniconda ICC WT20 2014 Final ICC CWC 2015 Semi Final ICC WT20 2016 Semi Final ICC CT 2017 Final (Even though he was not the captain but was giving tips and tricks behind the stumps) Losing Margins would have been less but results would have been the same. straighttalk Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Actually. Dhoni indirectly brought this calculated planning of taking games deep into Indian cricket... It works for him as a finisher but now our top three tries to finish games and do tuk tuk..we need players without shackles...wasting balls so that you can score 30 off 10 at end is criminal...70 off 45 where you are 30 off 30 is wasteful and downright hara Kiri if you fail...
Vijy Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 he was good, but we should not look with rose-tinted glasses. the 2007 WT20 was when most teams were just adjusting to the new format. and CT 2013 was a shortened game that could have gone either way. the real achievement was 2011, but we had a great ODI batting lineup + Zak in peak bowling form
