Teams must beat Australia to win the World Cup?

One cool world cup tradition is.. Since 1983, every world cup was won by either Australia or a team that has beaten Australia in the tournament. No team that didn't beat Aussies atleast once in the tournament won since 83

 

So in this edition, india and south africa are the title contenders right now, based on this tradition. Can Pak join this list today?
