So basically I have these really noisy neighbours who put their stereo up at any time of the day. It makes me really annoyed. Now something triggered when I was looking at the other 'superheroes thread' and saw that Logitech's Harmony universal remote controls. Didnt want to further hijack that thread :D Some of you seem to have some experience with this (Rajeev, and Aditi?). Can I use this to turn off the neighbour's stereo system?:yay: Some questions would be that if the signal would be able to pass through walls and how troublesome would it be to program it if I dont know their stereo's model number? Would be really interesting if this could be done:haha:

If u know the remote' date=' just program it and u can kill em[/quote'] you mean their stereo's remote brand and make? That could be a little tricky to find out. Btw, does the signal go through walls. Its basically an apartment and the neighbors live one floor below. Doesnt it have a auto finder or something?

I dont. A wild guess. So there goes my chance of roughing them up

We used to have one of the universal remote controls at home some years ago and it worked pretty well. Not sure if it will work with the range though

i have a nevo remote on my pocket pc and i use it to shut down overhead projectors in the event that the lecturer is boring... sort of like signaling the class to an end.

infrared remotes require directional line of sight path... however a new generation of remotes operate on radio frequency that does not attenuate significantly through walls. so if you neighbor is using a bose accoustics lifestyle 3000 or above, if you can get hold of a bose radio remote, programmed to his particular frequency... voila! of course, the probability of all the above occuring simultaneously is so bleak, that i would recommend investing in a lottery.

For going through walls u need a RF Remote http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,124457-page,1/article.html U need to see the make the stereo, thats all and Logitech will program it Harmony is great value, I bought mine for 169.99 I have 4 sats, 2 DVD Recorders, TV, ATI PC Control and even my Air Conditioner But the bigger feature is the macro Setting 1 = Turn TV on, DVD on AV2 and Sat 3 on Channel 245 this puppy is a life saver
