Sean Bradley Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 (edited) I have been noticing this for the past few days and also twice in the Match between India vs Sri Lanka today, umpires go in the order of - Checking the Snicko First - Pitch Map - Ball Tracking Many a times umpires take an eternity to check if there has been an edge only to later find out that the ball has either pitched outside leg or missing the stumps. This is causing an unwarranted delay in the game and killing the moment for teams who are ahead in the game. ICC should find a way where the umpires are simultaneously getting an update from the tech team that the ball has pitched outside leg or the impact is outside of off stump, or the ball is missing the stumps. This will ensure that precious time and moment in the game is not killed and the game carries on with the same intensity before the interruption. Edited July 27, 2024 by Sean Bradley

It takes time for ball tracking to get ready, so they can stand around doing nothing while it gets ready or they can check snicko in that time. Thats why snicko is checked even on obvious decisions when bat is long way away from body.
Norman Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Ball tracking is not fast as we think it is. Unless we get it's processing speed up , we cannot directly jump to it. Sean Bradley 1
