Shahid is certainly very overrated by some and similarly he is over hated by others. Despite not making use of his natural talent he has still had a fairly useful career. His overall performance in the ODIs is better than most players including the likes of Bhajji and on par with Vettori. He has also done fairly well in the limited chances given at the test level.

Afridi has been made larger than life by his fans and been beaten to death by his critics. The fascinating thing is the fanfare, and criticism, is often driven by the exact same comments. For example - Anytime Afridi hits a 6 and his fan shouts aloud, Thats Pathan power, you can see his critics going WTF?? And these critics include many Pakistanis as well who feel perplexed as to what has ethnicity to do with hitting sixes. Then of course there was that comparison between Afridi and Irfan Pathan as to who was the real Pathan. It singularly made many Pakistanis happy and peeved off Indian fans at the same time. The funny thing is none of this statements were made by Afridi himself! Is Afridi a great player? Not at all. Is Afridi a good player? No. Is Afridi a character of modern cricket? You bet your ar$e. There are not too many characters in modern cricket and years later people may forget many of the cricketers who may be now ranked 3rd, 7th or 13th but they will remember Afridi. Just like cricketing fan remembers Gilbert Jessop ahead of CB Fry and Frank Wooley. xxx

true dat. He is temperamental, mercurial, had a smashing debut, did well against arch-rivals India AND DOES NOT HAIL FROM PUNJAB or Sindh, which is rare for a Pak player...all these factors made him a star overnight. He is equally talented in batting as say a Dhoni but has 1/00th brain of Dhoni. And as always, 90% cricket is played in brain..:D

Are you serious ? PM me the link to that post
Sorry, missed this post. It was a formal announcement made on the Fan forum of PP. They have removed the forum now Afridi was not happy with some of the comparisons made when informed by his friends. His agent warned PP over it.
