Yes?
No. Not by a long margin. Can't believe Gambit that you of all people are getting blinded by these partnerships at the top on absolutely flat tracks! Let this pair prove themselves against better teams on tracks which have at least something for the seamers or even spinners. Have Gambhir-Sehwag opened in Australia, England, SA or even Newzealand and Srilanka? That way, we can also say that few batsmen are greater than Sachin, Gavaskar in tests, if just a few matches count? Will that do with you? Sehwag and Gambhir are a good pair, have good understanding between each other but they have a long long way to go to even equal Sachin-Ganguly combo in ODIs. If you're talking Sachin-Ganguly at present are not as good as Sehwag-Gambhir at present, then I might even ponder over the comparison. If you're talking as this pair's performance ever since they came together, then I'll not waste my time even thinking about it!

VS+GG >>>>>>>>>>> SRT+SCG VS & GG give smashing starts and score at almost 8 rpo on an avg & provide a platform for ind to score 300+ easily. SRT & SCG used to bore everyone & struggled to score over 5 rpo. also GG is the best odi batsman india has produced & VS being the most brutal indian batsman who can change the course of any odi in just 4-5 overs
Wtf....with due respect to GG's consistency and attacking style of play,he's nowhere near Sach..and Gangs. He neeeds to maintain this golden run of his for a longer period of time on all conditions,to be counted among all time best ODI bats of India. Sach..and Ganguly used to give us 5-6 RPO start at a time 270-300 was a match winning total. In the future when 7-8 RPO will become norm in ODI's will you totally forget the contribution of GG and Viru?

Gambhir, Sehwag made our job easier: Dhoni Skipper M S Dhoni praised Gambhir and Sehwag for giving a great start to lay the foundation for their win over Lanka. More... Gambhir, Sehwag made our job easier: Dhoni Agencies Posted online: Friday , July 04, 2008 at 0857 hrs IST Karachi, July 3: : Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni praised his opening batsmen Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag for giving the team a flying start to lay the foundation for their six-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Karachi on Thursday. "They have given us some great starts in the competition and it has made the job of chasing big totals easier for us," Dhoni said at the post match press conference. Sehwag and Gambhir put on 92 runs for the opening wicket in 11.4 overs to plot India's easy win over Sri Lanka and set up a summit clash on Sunday against the same opponents. "Even though the wickets in this tournament have been very flat, and that is why we have seen totals of 300, still you need good starts to take the pressure off the middle order batsmen," he said. Dhoni said normally if a team had to chase 300 runs there was nervousness and confusion at the interval. "But in this tournament due to the pitches everyone is relaxed and knows it is possible (to chase down)." He said it was a great feeling to be in the final which would be a tough one against a very good side. The Indian captain insisted that the performance of the bowlers in the tournament should not be a criteria to assess their worth. "Let us be clear that we have a bunch of very talented and exciting players. But the pitches have nothing in it for the bowlers even the spinners have got little turn so it has been hard on them and put more responsibility on the batsmen," Dhoni added.

Sehwag - has been an abject ODI failure until *now* - dont confuse Test Sehwag with odi-sehwag Gambhir - needs to be tested for non-Asian conditions for 2 yrs atleast
He's been India's best ODI batsmen for the past year in different types of conditions.

What I am really surprised about is that despite the explosive starts, no one has commented on how these openers throw their wickets away. 30-40 runs and the odd fifty is no way for a class batsman. That is what got us in trouble in the Pak games. Srt was ridiculed for not FINISHING a game inspite of being an opener but everyone is fine with these guys throwing away good starts? Also, most of the time, SRt-Gangs went over 50 in a patnership, the patnership used to go beyond 150 and one or both would end up scoring 100.

a opening pair which consistently gives 80/0 starts off 10 overs in every match is better than 1 which gives 100 pship once in 3-4 innings & flops in the remaining innings

From the little i have seen of you, your the most reractionary guy i have ever seen. One good game makes someone a world beater and one bad makes someone worse. The reason SRT-Gangs partnership is considered the best in the world is because they were most Consistent and as for scoring 80 runs in ten over, surely its not missed your notice that even Bangladesh was scoring over 6 RPO and ended up with 284 against india on the same pitches?
