If Auqib Nabi and Gurnoor Brar aren't playing this Test, just fly them back to Bengaluru for the Duleep Trophy rather than cool their heels. Both can play the North vs West game.

It has more to do with the ball than the SL pitches. Wrist spinners tend to struggle more with the softness of the older Kookaburra. But Kuldeep possesses a high skill level to be effective with even the Kookaburra when he is in rhythm. The problem is that his confidence is shot since last year, so his accuracy and speeds are all over the place.
