Your team for 2nd Test vs SL?

Mine would be:

Replace Jurel with Sarfaraz

Replace Kuldeep with either Saransh (if spin friendly wicket) or Nabi (if seamer friendly wicket)

A case can even be made for having both Nabi/Gurnoor and Saransh in the team in place of Jurel and Kuldeep as 3 spinners can bat and Nabi/Gurnoor are decent bats as well. This would give us 6 bowling options.

Kuldeep should be given one more Test. There's a lot of upside to getting Kuldeep back in form ahead of the BGT, as we'll need a wicket-taking option against Aussie left-handers.

Saransh will make way for Sundar in the BGT and neither is a big wicket-taker anyway.

I don't see Kuldeep playing in NZ, so this would be his last chance of finding some rhythm before the BGT.

Saransh is not long term given the backing Washi has gotten. At best he will be a back up to Washi.

Suthar is the true first choice spinner and Washi is the second spinner who can bat at 7. This kind of works like Washi taking Jaddu's spot (at No.7) and Suthar taking Ashwin's spot (No.8).

So, for the next test, Kuldeep should get one more go.

One change - Sarfaraz for Jurel

As seen new players when given a opportunity are grabbing it , Suthar, Paddikal, Gurnoor have done well.

This would also put pressure on seniors who are taking their place for granted .

Sarfaraz, Saransh, Gurnoor should play the 2nd test.

If Sarfaraz, Saransh, Gurnoor plays well they should not be dropped for Sundar, Siraj,Sai.

One change is for sure happening as per Dhurandhar Vikky Paaji that Kuldeep will be dropped for Saransh.

I want Gurnoor to play as well but don't see it happening unless the pitch is Green

☆☆  Normally I am totally against replacing a batsman with an allrounder. But we need to get Gurnoor ready before the important NZ test series. He can be the key there.

I doubt they will have the guts to replace a semi-fit Siraj.

Saransh is doing well as a batsman these days and can be a good No.7.

Jadeja is a good No.6.

Batting looks paper thin.

I'd drop Siraj for Gurnoor as he looked very ordinary in Galle and looks completely out of rhythm. SSC is usually not that big of a turning wicket so I don't think we need spinners.

No way are they going with 6 bowlers.

If Gurnoor plays, one of Siraj/Prasidh will be rested.

Not much change in batting actually.

Saransh is doing really well as a batter in the last 2 years and is a good enough No.7

Ageee.  Personally, I would have done that too. But doubt GG, SG will.

Siraj is no spring chicken...he is 32 years and that's tough for Indian diet .

Bumrah is also 32

GURNOOR  BRAR ....

Should they delay his test match  debut after looking at the details below  ?

■■    @rkt.india posted this video below earlier in this thread.   Gurnoor's 10 wicket haul for India A a month back on a flat deck when no other pacer from either side could get even 2 wickets in the match.

Look at the different and potent delivery types  ....

1 )  Top of off stump directed slanting / indipping balls

2 )  Excellent channel balls moving away with bounce. And very close to the off stump.

3 )  Vicious Bumpers / rising balls at the body.

4 )  Inipping yorkers .... 2 of them got wickets.

■■  And I had posted the video below in another thread. Gurnoor bowling vs Afghanistan on Indian pitches.

Again look at the different and potent delivery types ....

1 ) Steep, hostile bounce at 145 k+, getting wickets, hitting batters on the head / body and scaring them too.

2 )  Indipping yorkers getting 2 wickets. One was at 148 kph.

3 )  Stump directed quick balls getting 2 wickets.

■■   His first international wicket.

1 )  Outswing with bounce at 146 kph

https://www.bcci.tv/videos/s-off-the-mark-maiden-odi-wicket-for-gurnoor-brar-7btz87

Apart from Bumrah, have we seen any Indian pacer combining accurate and quick .... away going channel balls with bounce .... indipping stump directed balls .... vicious bumpers .... indipping yorkers .... seamlessly and regularly  like Gurnoor is doing. !!

It's not just pace and bounce but objective pace and bounce used in different potent delivery types.

It would be unfortunate if his test debut is delayed !

Even if he has an ordinary first test, he needs to be backed.

No changes would be made to winning combination

Yes, less likely to see any changes unless someone appears out of touch or conditions force a chance.

Cricket management believes in “law of averages” so may see those who failed as likely to come good in the next game (unless if a player is struggling for form or conditions drive a change).

If (and its a big if) Gurnoor bats the way he is capable of...I think we have a batting till no 9.

Both Sahan and Mishara are left handers... It's clear now they are opting to add more left handers in the batting unit to counter Suthar.

Saransh will get a go in SSC now 100%

Mishara??

Mishra ji added an extra "a" and migrated to SL ?

Even Kamil looks like "Kamal" (or Kapil if you dont like Kamal Hassan).

He is Kamal (Kapil) Mishra ladies and gentleman.
