Now Pakistan wakes up campiang against nuclear deal

But they are in essence, expressing a truism of this deal. What our 'chest-thumping wannabe nationalists' are not thinking, is that this deal will massively boost not only our nuclear power and overall power availability in the nation and ease some burden on inflation (which has a heck of a lot to do with oil prices and freeing up a big chunk of oil from power gen.) , its going to be a veritable gold mine for bomb making material. Some elements in the west are concerned and rightly so (alongside China,Pak etc) that the enormous amount of byproducts and enormous amounts of behind the scenes corruption will see to it that a lot of the byproduct highly fissile material is used in making bombs. I don't mind it- a *****load of nukes will go some ways to deter the Red Panda but the grim reality is, this is going to escalate the situation nonetheless. Right now,Pakistan doesnt have to face the scenario of total, utter annihilation at our hands because our nuke reserve are limited and our nukes arnt exactly of the highest callibre design ( our payloads tested are minis, boosted payloads have never been tested, check the payloads on the chinese/russian/american designs versus ours). Pakistan will procure nukes, atleast from the Panda or get help in that regard.

You guys take a MB way too seriously.. No one is going to lecture anyone.. And who am I to 'snatch' your powers of free speech away from you? I am simply here to make sure the rules are followed and that is irrespective of who the member is; You, me, DR and absolutely anyone.
You are frothing over what is being written and what not and I take MB too seriously:haha: Don't expect even slightest of mercy from me .. u will be dealt with in usual DR style.. :winky:

yawn... well if they let IAEA debrief A Q Khan about his alternate source of income, then maybe someone wake me up to view this saber rattling by a blunt tooth, sickly eyed, aging, rickets suffering dog.

No.... our current breeder system of reactors create radioactive waste that can very easily be weaponized or even incorporated into a dirty bomb (thus the ubiquitous concern of terrorist proliferation). the reactors that will be built with american assistance produce a considerably benign waste that can easily be containerized in special stainless steel vats that are incredibly durable: can withstand a side on collision with a locomotive at 60mph, survive a 500ft vertical drop, and maintain integrity for 45minutes in a 14000 K flame. furthermore, the IAEA inspectors who will be checking on those reactors will monitor and ensure the mutual exclusivity of the civilian energy generation program and any military aspirations. furthermore, the nuclear deal, if ratified by both parties, will not ease inflation any time soon, but nonetheless, it is a step in the right direction.

nuclear fuel in reactors is of the form of small pellets with enriched media that are inserted in long square cylindrical chambers which are dipped in the coolant with boron or cadmium control rods placed between adjoining cylinders. nuclear fuel used in bombs is a larger, much more compact fissile material so that critical mass might be achieved. which the former can be achieved with ease from the later, the later is not so readily derivable from the former, though it is not impossible. finally, we are not interested in detering any red panda scare or annihilating pakistan. we have a more pressing need: energy generation. and one last word (well an abbreviation actually): IAEA

I have said it in past will say it again.. india breathes easy on western border only when pakistan is in trouble the moment they breathe easy or have pretension of relative stability india starts facing problme.. Even on terrorism front some peace messihas here thought terrorism may be thing of past but look what's happening.. bottomline keep pakistanis occupied at their western border our western border will be relatively quiet.....

Actually, Pakistan's written letter must be seen in larger perspective. It is NOT PAKISTAN ALONE THAT IS OPPOSING. Recall there is NO direct or official protest from China. So Chincommies being inheritors of Sun Tsu, as usual employing their trick very well. First they used Indian Commies as their proxies....it's a daylight fact that Indian Laal Salaam brigade get massive funding from China so much so that their MPs were able to refuse high bribe offer from Congress governmnet. Paki protest is nothing but a CHINA+PAK combined protest. However, this is irrelevant as long as Unkil is with us. Unkil will make sure that NSG passess the agreement and starts reactor trade. After all it is matter of billion plus dollar industry of Nuclear reactor manufacturers like GE and Areva and effectively thousands of new job Unkil can create in his homeland. It's give and take for India, and no one does the best business and marketing as Unkil does.

So Pakistan and BJP are on the same side for once? :-D
May be for those who lack the ability to read and think not to the rest for sure:-D

I dont about this "bhai bhai" stuff... i have not seen any overtures from them that suggest that they are interested in burying in the hatchet. the rivalry is still there, and still as venomous, but with the growing gulf between the two nations, the threat has turned into a bit of a nuisance.

Suffice to say, i am fairly familiar with the basic details of nuclear power generation ( particularly CANDUU reactors and most of India's current reactors are CANDUU). I think its implicit that if this deal goes through, India will be building more nuclear power plants- we arnt just buying this fuel to simply safeguard our supply for the current operational plants, so this supply has to go to new plants that are in the picture. And we are still in the dark to the exact layout of those plants and if they will be more rewarding towards bomb-making byproducts. In either case, as you said yourself, it is not impossible to derive enriched uranium from the byproducts. ( Regardless of which type of reactor is used, the depleted rods WILL have certain trace of U-235. Given that India is a master of gas centrifuge technology( this is, believe it or not, almost identical apparatus to commercial butter production!), it then becomes a question of supply: with enough supply of depleted matter, we can seive out enough fissile material for bomb making. yes, i am aware of the stringency of IAEA, but i am also aware of India's legendary capabilities in corruption. Frankly, i am not as confident as you that given this deal materializes, IAEA will be actually able to prevent India using the leftovers as it sees fit or atleast, some part of it.
