Mr. Wicket Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Anyone heard it yet? Quite like a lot of it. Big improvement from most of their crap in the last 10-15 years, with the exception of Unforgiven 3. Really good guitar work and drumming throughout. The vocals and songwriting are the only real weak points.
Dirty_South Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I didn't like it :( I usually don't like Metal :(
kumble_rocks Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Heard it on youtube . Nothing great compared to their albums of the 80's and early 90's . They miss Cliff. This song was ok in my opinion - Metallica: The Day That Never Comes from Death Magnetic [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ5zXXUJsyc]YouTube - Metallica: The Day That Never Comes from Death Magnetic[/ame]
Mr. Wicket Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 That song was OK - my personal favourite from the album (mainly for the intro) is My Apocalypse. Of course KR, this doesn't compare to Kill em All, Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets - but after the crap that was Load/Reload/St. anger this is a breath of fresh air.
Ram Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 What are guys talkin bout? Metal this, metal that... What metal? Copper? Aluminium? I like Titanium. :D
Mr. Wicket Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 Oh go listen to some Black Sabbath or (OLD) Metallica. :D You'll get it soon enough. GVsXrRiT0_I BTW - if you've never had the pleasure of hearing em yet... this is one of their best live performances ever IMO.
f.b.m Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I've never liked Metallica since my childhood, which is unsuprising because my first initiation with serious music was with Napalm Death (loved it back then). I thought that Metallica was a bit wuss compared to DM/Grindcore and unfortunately, that hasnt changed much even though I'm not into Death metal or grindcore anymore. Any good initiation into Metallica for this background Salil?
flamy Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 That day never comes song is alrite. Not the normal cr@p I associate with Metallica. Except SnM.
kumble_rocks Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Gawd !I am back to this metal ****** again thanks to this thread !:-D I had boycotted Metallica because they were the first ones started the ****** against Napster and other Peer to Peers. My top 5 Metallica songs - 1. One - One Awesome song ! 2. Enter Sandman- Beautiful lyrics and great ****ing music. 3. Nothing Else Matters - Just like the way I wan' t to lead my frigging life . 4. Until it sleeps - Another awesome song. 5. Sad but True . Good lyrics.
Mr. Wicket Posted September 20, 2008 Author Posted September 20, 2008 For me... 1. Orion. Cliff Burton = Bass guitar god. 2. Seek and Destroy, live version 3. The Four Horsemen (and if you've ever seen a live performance of it, you'll know why) 4. Sanitarium - amazing songwriting, phenomenal guitar work, IMO one of the great songs from Master of Puppets 5. One - same reason as KR
kumble_rocks Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Salil , Do you like Iron Maiden? One of my favorite hard rock groups.
Mr. Wicket Posted September 20, 2008 Author Posted September 20, 2008 Yup - like them a fair bit. Not among my absolute favourites in terms of metal (that's old Metallica, Megadeth, Sabbath and Judas Priest), but they're great to listen to.
Holysmoke Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 This might sound weird, but I think this is their best song. Brilliant song to listen to while driving. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOibtqWo6z4]YouTube - Metallica - Turn The Page[/ame]
