I had the 5.0 version or something and it also says for evaluation purposes only, however, it keeps running. There's this popup that comes once in a while that says whether you want to purchase or use the evaluation copy, I just keep pressing the 'evaluation copy' . Works for me :-D The one feature that I liked in this was the 'search in files' tool, which comes quite handy. Also, check out this portable application website. You can install these appz on your usb and take them wherever you want. Some of them are pretty decent. http://portableapps.com/apps

I also used edit plus for a long time for web page coding, but now I have switched to Dreamweaver cs3 as its dynamic prompts on the run saves a lot of time while coding.

Pretty useful, But like u said, its more for coding. For simple text editing (rich text is a different topic), just wondering what a good, friendly alternative to the 'ubiquitous notepad' would be?
