saneindian
Like Ishant (131 wickets at 36)' date=' Zaheer (121 wickets at 36) had a dreadful record at Test level before he turned his career around at Worcestershire. Ishant needs something similar.[/quote'] Correct. The advantage Ishant has over Zaheer is his age. Zaheer was 28 when he lost his spot in 2006, Ishant is 23. Even if he takes an year or two to get back on track, he will still have a good 6-7 years of cricket ahead of him. For the sake of Indian cricket, I hope he does come back. We can't see so many investments going bust, and that too all at around the same time. Link to comment

express bowling
Ishant's main problem is that he does not use his head while bowling. He just goes through the motions and bowls a horrible line atleast 50 % of the time. He is a real slow learner. He has very little chance of succeeding unless he gets a good coach who would teach him what to do. He seems to have an inability to learn by himself. If he gets a bad coach he is finished. Ultimate_Game
He is not a wkt taker. Period. He can't bowl line & length consistently and his natural length is too short to get wkts. He will look good once in a while while beating the batsmen but he will never take bunch of wkts and he's not good enough to make adjustments to his length. Link to comment

But if he doesn't get control over his line and learn what the most effective length is for him, he will remain an unfulfilled talent and that will be a real shame for Indian cricket, given that in terms of natural talents of pace and bounce, he was the most exciting fast bowling talent for India in years. Dravid_TheWall
Ishant can become no 1 but its going to take some time and a lot of effort. Link to comment
Aussie-r-best
The No. 1 bowler where????? In his home town...:winky: :giggle: Take most of the Eng bowlers, Steyn, Pattinson (albeit early) and he has a long way to go... Ishant is not even the No.1 bowler int he Indian team and is probably not close to that Link to comment

He believes get someone in aged 16 then hopefully 12 years down the line, he may be half decent. That is definitely not what grooming is. You groom someone who has potential and has delivered albeit inconsistently. Likes of Pattison, Cummins, De lange, philander deserve a run. Ishant has been in the team for 4 years where he never has looked like a genuine wicket taker at test level. I just don't understand how he has even lasted this long. Maybe if they stopped picking him 2 years ago he may have had to rework his game and come back better. Link to comment

I agree totally.... :two_thumbs_up: Maybe a break from the team will help him, but he is way to inconsistent, gives up too easily and just doesn't seem to be same threat he was last time India were in Australia.... There are number of plyers in India, my view is there needs to be alittle more ruthlessness in the selection room... prove yourself or your out.... Atleast in more than one or two games Link to comment
Dravid_TheWall
He has height' date=' bounce, good pace yet doesnt pick wickets and consistently bowls wrong lengths. I have had high hopes from Ishant for a long time now only to be disappointed most of the time. he needs to take a season off.[/quote'] Do I have to say told you so :omg: Do not fear asking me for more advice next time. I played some friendly matches with a few Aussie students at uni in England few years back. Was good fun, one was a very good batsmen, very sound technique! Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Oh. youre really sad :(( We have enjoyed our success as much you have :wall: but we arent delusional enough to come up with thread like we will better xyz,we will be no.1 again etc.Its good reality has hit you as well finally :sherlock: We have been good for 10 years. Thats the reality that self loather like you cannot bring yourself to admit to. At least mine was just a predicition and when prediction slumps I admit we failed. You and some others like lalloo are different as you are looking at past and not able to admit the truth even with facts presented in font of you that we were a dammn good team and best in world frankly. You cannot admit to reality due to self laothing and desperation to win your petty internet wars. You are so obssessed with your internet battles, that you will even happily put down your country just to win them, and put them down when facts say different. Enjoy the india losses. Good times for people like you and laloo As they say in the stock market, past performance is no guarantee, or even indicator, of future performance. Just because we won a test in England 4 years ago and won another test in Australia 4 years ago doesn't mean we will "batter the Aussies 4-0" this time around. I can only hope the BCCI and the selectors have completely different mindset than you, because in life if you keep gloating over decade old achievements, its easy to make a fool out of oneself. As the Indian team are currently doing in Australia. And no, I am not at all happy about it. In fact I am totally pissed off. And reading threads like this one and "We will batter the Aussies because Michael Clarke is a metrosexual" pisses me off even more. Link to comment
