Dravid
Seems gambhir surely wont play so whos it gonna be? M. Vijay in as a cover, but no way he plays Mine-> sehwag and yes, the great ganguly final test for him, one of our best openers. Come on dada :--D Sending dravid to open would not only bore us, more importantly, it will bore sehwag, and get aus on top straight away. Bandri makes debut, in middle order.. Link to comment
Holysmoke
ganguly to open? grow up.. Link to comment
Cricketics
It's better to play a specialist opener then to throw in some random guy up the order. Facing the new ball in test and odi's is different... it's Ganguly's last test.. let him bat in the middle order where he always does.... Link to comment

So is Murali Vijay, the player called in place of Gambhir. Vijay's just scored 243 in the ongoing Ranji match between Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/ranjisuperleague2008/engine/current/match/368238.html Link to comment

Guest HariSampath
Ideally, it should be Sehwag and Gambhir only...provided something miraculous happens...but if Not and GG cant play, as it looks like, then it will certainly be Sehwag and Murali Vijay. Vijay has been specifically called for this, and as Dravid , if he plays , may not want to open, its just got to be Sehwag/Murali Vijay. Link to comment
TaNk
Sach to open ??? No f000kin way ! why not .. he opend few times in test also he was our ODI opener for quite a while plus Viru & Tendu kick ass togather ... :two_thumbs_up: Link to comment

DomainK
why not .. he opend few times in test also he was our ODI opener for quite a while plus Viru & Tendu kick ass togather ... :two_thumbs_up: There is a difference between test opening and ODI opening. And then Sachin is too valuable a middle order batsman to be disturbed. Link to comment

bharat297
Sehwag and Vijay ... stick with specialist openers. Also Vijay is in form now which is important. Link to comment
Ram
Dravid with Sehwag, Badri comes in at no.6. You gotto be joking if you say a rookie opener with no prior international experience whatsoever, is going to make his debut in the final, deciding test match against Australia. Vijay may have well been picked to get the feel of the dressing room and rub shoulders with the stars. I see this more as a grooming process, rather than an actual oppurtunity. Besides, the Dravid/Sehwag combo has worked in the past too. They put on a massive opening partnership against Pakistan. Link to comment
