Desi Cartman Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 DHAKA: India’s embassy in Bangladesh on Wednesday voiced its displeasure over a life-size copy of the Taj Mahal , saying it would investigate to see if any copyright laws had been breached. “You can’t just go and copy historical monuments,†fumed a spokesman at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka. “Someone will go out there and have a look. The reports we are reading say it is an exact replica. This is a protected site we are talking about so we need to find out if it really is the exact size,†he said. Bangladeshi film director Ahsanullah Moni unveiled his $58 million replica, located about 30 kilometres northeast of the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, this week. Moni began building it five years ago but came up with the idea in 1980 when he first visited the real “Monument to Love†in Agra. He imported marble and granite from Italy, diamonds from Belgium and used 160 kilos of bronze for the dome. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

DomainK Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 If I am not wrong, there is already a casino in Las Vegas which is an exact replica of the Taj Mahal. An original remains an original. No need to get unsecured over replicas.

Rajiv Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Reminds of this childhood joke, there was this uncle in our building who used to come and play cricket with us and was very freindly with the kids ( nothing fancy - comment post jackson era ) Anyways, he had a bet once that if he couldn't hit a six of a last ball then he would treat us all at taj mahal hotel, he lost and the day came .. all the freaking kids dressed up with all socks rolled up, shoes polished and what not..all excited to drive to town and eat at the taj..and then as the car started, took 3 mins to reach there..we stepped out to see that were eating at Taj Mahal Restaurantt - funny that most of us thought that we would still go to the real taj hotel after eating there
