Chokers put into perspective

Recommended Posts

http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/magazine/content/current/story/383270.html Chasing targets between 200 and 420, here are the percentages of success(counting wins and draws as a success) since 2000 for the major teams : Australia - 8/12 = 67% India - 8/13 = 62% Pakistan - 6/10 = 60% England - 10/17 = 56% SA - 9/17 = 53% NZ - 3/6 = 50% SL - 3/8 = 38% WI - 8/21 = 38% Second highest success ratio of either winning or saving a match in the 4th innings facing a target between 200 and 420, yet reams and reams have been written branding the batting line up as chokers. Numbers don't lie....they are staring right through.

We had 8? What were they? The most recent one against Eng in Chennai (W) First test against Australia in Delhi (D) 1st test at Lords against Eng in 2007 (D) 2nd test against England in 2002 ( the one in which Parthiv Patel made an important contribution with the bat) ?(D) 1st test against Pakistan at Delhi last year ( though that was a 190-odd total)(W) 4th test against Australia at Adelaide earlier this year (D) Distinctly recollect one test against West Indies in which we batted last and drew sometime in 2004 or 2005 probably in Chennai( Either Sachin, VVS or Kaif made a score there)(D) Probably the one in Pakistan in 2006? ( when Rahul Dravid opened and scored a 100, along with Sehwag maybe) (D) Till now, thats only a solitary win. Whats the remaining one?

How did you get this stat. When i set the target as 200+ for 4th innings, I see 4 wins, 7 losses and 4 draws http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru/engine/team/6.html?class=1;filter=advanced;innings_number=4;orderby=start;result=1;result=2;result=3;result=4;runsmin2=200;runsval2=runs;spanmin1=01+Jan+2000;spanval1=span;template=results;type=team;view=innings And if you narrow it down to the last 5 years (since Jan 2004) it is 2 wins, 3 draws, 5 losses

I think cricinfo excluded targets greater than 420 runs.
