Desi Cartman
Aus is paying for ending Gillespie's career short .. they have always put a high price on the baggy green and hence they never gave opportunity to the new players when they were doing really well. Now they dont have any bowlers. Also IMO Symo is a big reason for dropped shoulders , it seems there has been a lot of politics going on behind the doors. ponting's obsession with Symo is affecting players like Watson who deserve to be in the playing XI. As for SA being the champs, I dont think they will be as dominant as the Aussies were but they will be in the top 3 along with India and Aus for the next few years. Link to comment
Shane
Played 15* Lost 1 Isnt this the best Test Team in the World, or are these stats misleading !!! * Does include the match at Melbourne !!! Link to comment
bharat297
Yes they are probably the best team in the world at the moment. The difference between SAF and IND atm is that while both SAF tend to play well against all teams (or have been doing so for the last 2 years), India tend to really elevate their game for the Australians but often will lose at the most unexpected times ... such as to Sri Lanka earlier this year. The other thing is, India need to draw less games. India are definitely on their way up but theyre not there yet ... but ... be patient. We have the ingredients to reach the top. * Good captain * Solid openers (both in deadly form) * Experienced middle order * Attacking strokeplayers (Yuvraj, Sachin, Dhoni) * Good spinners (good not great) and best of all ... (probably for the first time in Indian cricket history) IMO ... THE BEST NEW BALL COMBO ON THE PLANET!!! We'll get there (No.1) soon ... we're not there yet though. Link to comment
Rajan
based on 2008, SA have to be #1 by all means. we blotted our book in SL. But v have a decent team. under Dhoni, the team shud do better, away too. wont be surprised if we become #2 after SA, if Australia continues their slide. Link to comment
cochise
Of the three teams in contention for the number one spot, India is the most talented. That talent has to be honed till it's fully realised and the skills displayed consistently...only then will we rise above the other two. Discipline and dedication to practice and training and a professional approach to the game is what is required from our boys and we will get there. Link to comment

DomainK
Yes, SA is the best test team. Australia falls way behind in 2008. 2009 will be our year I guess. We need to overcome the Mendis fobia though. We should beat all other teams. Link to comment

BCCI can we have an away series against some serious opposition :Pleading: Link to comment

If we lose to Srilanka in India (which is quite possible if we dont figure Mendis out) and win all other matches against NZ and BD, we will take a good fall on the ranking's table. No1 might still elude us. Link to comment

We won't lose to Lanka in India...we will have much footage to analyse of Mendis when Pakistan lose to Lanka in the upcoming tour and our batsmen will come up with ways to turn Mendis into Boydis, don't you worry. So the itinerary is NZ and then BD? When is the BD series? And when is Lanka in India? Link to comment

Show_stopper
You have to hand it to the Saffies..they deserved to be no.1 more than we did..As for us,its time to improve that away record!! Look at the Saffies they are undefeated in 2years..awesome awesome record. You better get your act together India, there are no short cuts to the #1 position. Link to comment
