reports Headlines Today.. Cancellations of Pak tour and Champions League hits them badly. The Working Committee of the Cricket Board will have a meeting in Mumbai tomorrow and most probably they are likely to give the nod for either Sri Lanka or West Indies touring India in the interim to incur atleast half of the amount lost due to these two BIG cancellations! 5 ODIs is what they are planning atm.

PCB rubbishes reports of BCCI hand in Lanka tour delay KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board has rubbished reports about a BCCI hand behind the delay in Sri Lanka's confirmation of its tour of Pakistan. PCB chief operating officer Saleem Altaf said there was no substance in the reports that the BCCI was pressurising the Sri Lankans to skip their tour of Pakistan. "There has been no delaying tactics on purpose by the Sri Lankan board. They wanted to sort out some issues with their players regarding the tour itinerary and hopefully they would confirm the itinerary in next two or three days. But we don't think there is anything suspicious in this," Altaf said. He said the Sri Lankans have confirmed the tour and were only working out the itinerary as they were also keen to play India. "The tour is definitely on and we are preparing accordingly for it. They should be playing two Tests, three One-Day Internationals and a twenty20 match," he said. The Lankans were invited by Pakistan following the cancellation of the Test tour by India after the Mumbai terror attacks. Altaf said despite the cancellation of the Indian team's tour, the PCB continued to have good relations with the BCCI.
You may be right..earlier they were planning a tour of 3 tests and 5 ODIs.Now they are talking of 2 tests and 3 ODIs..Who knows by the time SL land that rotten land,it could be for a one-off T20 match :haha:

On the Pak forum anything that stalls SL tour of Pakistan is BCCI induced or so its said. Of course BCCI must be doing something under the table, here hoping SL cancel the tour and the PCB just closes shop and Pak cricket reverts to amateurs.

BCCI and sponsors at loggerheads MUMBAI: As if the alarm bells tolled by the economic slowdown and the terrorist attacks on Mumbai are not enough, the Indian cricket board is facing another problem: a kind of mini war with its own sponsors. According to well-placed sources, the BCCI's key sponsors and partners have defaulted in their payments and both are blaming each other for this mess. ''Yes, Sahara, Nike and broadcasters Nimbus have not paid their scheduled dues,'' a senior BCCI official told TOI. "The Working Committee will take up this matter at its meeting tomorrow (Saturday). We will be treating it as a very serious thing," he warned. Incidentally, this comes just after BCCI's declaration that it stood to lose more than Rs 100 crore this year thanks to the recent developments. As is well-known, the Champions League was postponed, two One-dayers against England called off while the tour to Pakistan has been cancelled. All three have added to hit BCCI where it hurts most. The Board's finance committee met on Friday and took stock of the situation. Sources revealed that the meltdown and the attacks have eaten into a large portion of the money it had accounted for this year. Another Board official, however, didn't want to refer to the problems with the sponsors as a war. "There are tough times and we would like to clarify that there is a difference in a default and a delay in payment," he said. He, however, agrees that the sponsors were responsible for the current cash situation. The sponsors and partners, though, are not taking it lying down. Nike clearly is not very happy with its BCCI deal: its on-field exclusivity clause is apparently not being honoured which is hurting its business interests. Nimbus has a much serious grouse though. "We have sent three notices to the BCCI. But they haven't responded to even one of them," a top Nimbus official said. "We have claimed that there is a breach of contract in four categories: A) Failure to deliver exclusivity of our telecast rights, B) Internet rights, C) Hospitality and ticket benefits and D) Matches not being held as per the schedule mentioned in the contract," he outlined. "The England series was originally scheduled to be held in March 2009 and that season was beneficial for us in terms of our revenue. But it was preponed by six months. Then two One-dayers have been cancelled and though it is because of the Mumbai attacks, we should be getting our money back from the BCCI. Our telecast exclusivity hasn't been taken care off either. Every channel is running footage as per their whims during matches which the board hasn't been able to stop. Our contract with the BCCI entitles us with the legal right to terminate this agreement. We have not defaulted on any payments. Delay perhaps, but not default," the Nimbus official said. Nobody from Sahara could be contacted. BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said, "We can discuss this after tomorrow's meeting." The Board is also surprised that the blue riband Indian Premier League's transfer window has not elicited any excitement so far. Maybe, it is a sign of the times but it is certainly giving the officials a lot to worry about.
