Both teams made one change to their starting XIs from the first match in Queenstown on Wednesday which was abandoned due to rain. Shivnarine Chanderpaul remained unavailable to the tourists because of a hand injury. The match started in fine conditions but under the threat of rain. "Taking the conditions into consideration we decided to bowl," Gayle said. "But we're not going to play for the weather, just play our best game and hope to win." New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori was happy to bat first. "We were going to have a bat," he said.
