Zap_Brannigan Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Im about to drink lasssi .. is that ok since I am a hindu ? Lassi is a indirect product of the sacred Cows hard work.....so NO. But, if u add a dash of vodka, you can drink it if you are a part of my religion.
Captain of Bhangra Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I have, quite knowingly, eaten beef in the past. I haven't eaten it for years since giving it up though. That said, being Sikh, not really supposed to eat any meat, but a lot of people have said to me that if I eat meat, I may as well eat beef as it's a Hindu thing to not eat it, not a Sikh thing. My wife (who's vegetarian, and pure Indian) even said this to me. Then, on the other hand, a lot of Sikhs say we shouldn't be eating beef, but don't lecture on other meats... I noticed in India (well, my parts, Punjab, anyway) that there's no beef or pork. In fact, my family over there are just as weirded out at the thought of eating pig as they are at the thought of eating cow. It's all chicken and fish over there, even the McDonalds over there has the 'Chicken Maharaja' rather than the 'Big Mac'...
DomainK Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I am a Brahmin (lower brahmin). I am not supposed anything non-veg, I am supposed to wake up before sunrise and offer water to the rising sun, I am supposed to have finished my pooja before some certain time in the morning, I am supposed to know all the mantras for different gods (not Tendulkar).

DomainK Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 There's a higher one? :P Anyways, yah. Yeah, there are high and low brahmins as well. We are not good enough for some high standard Poojas/Havans etc. Im a brahmin as well .. And yes i do the above :giggle: You do all that? Really?:omg:
kumble_rocks Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Never like read meat...but no inhibitions when it comes to eating beef. Either you are a veg or a non veg .End of Story .
flamy Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I'm .3% Irish. u want me to put some bamman in u?
Kohum Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I voted NO on the poll. But I have accidentally eaten Beef once & by choice pork many times. I have now stopped eating non-veg altogether, because I don't like. Unless one practices meditation, one is not constrained on whether to be vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Vegetarianism - comes naturally - if one practices meditation/sadhana @DomainK - I wasn't aware of upper or lower difference in brahmins. There exists a difference based on which vedas you are supposed to know. But this is new to me.
