Ram Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 As always, the Govt - LTTE conflict in Lanka has given the Tamil politicians a brilliant chance to whip up the sentiments of 'Tamil Pride' and 'Tamil Nationalism'... The worst part is, this kind of partisanship cuts across party lines, starting from the ruling party, to the main opposition to all the fringe parties. Worryingly, many student groups have taken to the streets reg. this issue. There have even been multiple cases of self-immolation by the protesters (A nonsensical practice you wouldnt find anywhere but in T.N). So, all govt and private colleges (Arts, Science, Engineering, Medical etc) have been indefinitely closed in the state, to prevent further student protests. Hostels have been closed and the students have been ordered to go back home. What kind of nonsense is this? Every time something happens in Lanka, the political parties fall head over heels to compete for maximum mileage.

triam Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I think it would make sense to separate the LTTE from tamils issue. Is LTTE an evil terrorist organization - yes. Should it wiped off - yes. Are Tamils marginalized in Lanka and are going through extreme hardships due to this civil war - yes. But unfortunately our dravidian leaders, are good for only one thing and that is rhetoric.
