Sachin to miss 4th ODI

Recommended Posts

BTW - will he play the 4th ODI? If not, who!??? Rohit Sharma /facepalm :omg: Do we have any other batsmen in the bench?? Gambhir too not in the best flow yet!

But Tendulkar was not too pleased with the Indian bowling. "In some patches we bowled well. I am quite sure the bowlers will have a meeting and try to figure what went wrong and what has to be done," he said. "In a high-scoring match like this the batsmen will throw their bat around and take that extra bit of chance. The bowlers had a bad day. But towards the end I think we could have done a little better." He said the batting powerplay had swung the momentum in India's favour. "It was at that point in the innings to make their off-spinner (Jeetan Patel) bowls towards the end and to change New Zealand's plan. I am sure their fast bowlers were caught off guard. The powerplay changed the momentum of the game." He said he would regard this a very important innings. "At one stage, we did not get too many runs. But they way we timed it and built the momentum it was satisfying. I would regard this as a very important innings." On not being able to score a one-day hundred here before this innings, Tendulkar said: "I started opening in 1994 here and got close to scoring a hundred around that period. The next tour was actually 2002-03 where I missed out on a few matches because of an ankle injury. I have not played that many games here. I got close to scoring hundreds here, but didn't manage to. It is better late than never." The master batsman admitted the thought of scoring a double hundred did cross his mind. "Towards the end I was hopeful that I could get a double hundred if I could stay there till the 50th over. It was in the vicinity," said Tendulkar. Then why did he decided to retire? "In the previous game I got hit in my abdomen by O'Brien and the muscle was quite sore. When I was batting with 65-70, I started feeling a stiffness in that area. But towards the latter half of my innings I started getting a twitch and it kept getting worse. And I knew that I was effectively damaging it and I had reached a stage when I couldn't go on." Asked if he would be fit for the fourth ODI at Hamilton on March 14, Tendulkar said it could be decided on Monday. "We will have to wait and see. We are going to have a look at it tomorrow."

sachin doubtful \ 4th odi lineup "After scoring a majestic 163 at Christchurch and helping India to take a 2-0 series lead over New Zealand, batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar is doubtful for fourth ODI to be played in Hamilton on Wednesday. The Indian opener retired hurt with an abdominal injury that left him a doubtful starter at Seddon Park" there is no way the team management will risk playing him he needs to be fit and fine for the tests so who should replace him?? rohit sharma? perhaps, dinesh kaarthick, as a specialist batsman may prove to be a much better choice than rohit but it is unlikely the team management thinks like i do or would dhoni go for a fifth genuine bowler? the team is batting well, everyone seems to be scoring consistently, no harm playing one batsman short?? munaf, after that horrible spell yesterday is sure to be left out, and make way for the now fully fit, ishant sharma the rest of the line-up will remain the same

this is pathetic - we have a choice between two woes: woe#1 Rohit Sharma and woe#2 KKD!!! Bench strength is very poor in squad selected.
i agree someone like robin uthappa, badrinath, abhishek nayar or even virat kohli should have been in the squad but for now, we'll have to manage with the current squad:((

Badrinath, M. Vijay are a really good contender who have been left out. I think they deserve a chance before nohit and dk. virat kohli is still very young and needs to be given time (he is india's david warner - good player, not yet ready to burst into international scene). He needs to play more domestic cricket. Next series onwards - they should keep Badri in the squad - he deserves a few series before WC.

i would rather have laxman/dravid in the odi squad for the remaining 2 odis(given that they r already in nz) than include rohit sharma. and dinesh kartik can be given a chance so that the youngsters combo isnt disturbed. atleast having dinesh kartik in the team will allow dhoni to bowl 4-5 overs the team can look like - sehwag gambhir raina yuvraj dhoni dinesh kartik yusuf pathan harbhajan pravin kumar zaheer ishant

Sharma or Kartik? Where is the bench strength or the youth brigade?
Anakin, they might not be on this tour coz we went with a bowling heavy squad, with players like Uthhappa, Rahane, Kohli waiting in the wings we might be aptly replaced in case one of the Top Guns goes missing !!!

I saw it on rediff ' date=' [b']SRT injury is not as bad as it was felt before... More chances of him playing on the 4th ODI.
I would rather prefer a 100% fit SRT or else it would be better for him to take some time off, rest the two ODI's and go rearing for the aww so important Test series With the series almost sealed, it would be a ludicrous thing to risk him !!!

Exactly, I'm all for him playing as less ODIs as possible anyway. RS or KKD should not be anywhere near the ODI team imo, Uthappa is average, while Kohli looked promising.

i would prefer kaarthik than give another go to sharma.he is a talented batsman n was in form.moreover he can keep if dhoni gets tired.Dhoni didnt look too comfortable keeping in last game.maybe he is carrying a niggle or somethiing.karthik can keep for a while

yes kaarthick is a utility cricketer, and has been wasted till now though his keeping was under the scanner, he has found form now has been scoring consistently, including hundreds and double hundreds if dhoni keeps, he is a brilliant feilder probably as good as suresh raina he must be given an oppurtunity
