Lurker Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 ha ha... except that its stephan colbert who says that... Noooooo man!! How could you go so wrong? Jon Stewart almost sings it. :haha: Alright I shall dig up a Youtube clip for you.
kumble_rocks Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Jon Stewart has got to be the most honest and well informed news caster out there . He had the news clips to back him up against Cramer regarding the Bearstearns fiasco. Cramer is a idiot who barely avoided jail during the tech bubble bust. He is dangerous to people who actually think he is giving good advice (which clearly he has not). CNBC needs to clean up its act and stop sucking up to the Wall Street thief clan. But considering the fact that it is owned by GE , I doubt it will happen. BTW, this mofo Cramer cost be 20 grand during the dot com bubble bust.
cochise Posted March 14, 2009 Author Posted March 14, 2009 Here is the full show you Southee: http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/index.jhtml?episodeId=220533
novpj Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Its great to see cramer owned but Jon Stewart gives Cramer too much credit when he says that Cramer should have seen this coming...
cochise Posted March 14, 2009 Author Posted March 14, 2009 I don't know, Cramer is not as stupid as you think...there appears to be design to his predictions...I happened across this vid when I was searching for the Stewart interview of Cramer....check it out and the history of his game... Ram Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Its easy to run a prime-time comedy show, but pretty hard to give long-term investment advice. No one actually understands how the economy exactly works to give 100% accurate advice. Cramer did bad advice, but so did most people. And its not their fault really. A majority of the analysts are incompetent and driven by wall-street propaganda.

Their job is to sell stocks, so they will tell as many lies as possible to get that done. You should have investigated thoroughly before investing so much into the dot-coms.

I think the point here is not whether it was good or bad advice, but if it was more to do with good or evil intentions, did Cramer who was a hedge fund manager, advising people to buy or sell based on his or his friends gains rather than giving genuine advice. The second point was how this whole issue started with Rick Santelli (another host of a show in CNBC) who went on air saying "This is America! How many of you people want to pay for your neighbors' mortgage that has an extra bathroom and can't pay their bills? ... President Obama, are you listening?", it just rubbed the general public the wrong way that there was this outcry towards individuals but not towards the big firms.

I doubt if anyone would be deliberately dishonest on live national television. Jim Cramer was just plain incompetent with his analysis. He read the markets wrong, as simple as that. And no it is not easy to run a prime time comedy show. I did not mean the amount of effort logistically or the intellect required to run such shows, but more the credibility part of it. Every time an analyst comes on T.V gives advice, he is essentially putting his credibility on the line, coz he is the sole residual claim on his words. Jim Cramer has been giving advice for more than 2 decades now. 100s of people would have made millions of dollars going by his words till now. Sure, he did get it wrong, but for a talk-show host to pinpoint one particular analyst and misguided financial advice smacks of cheap-shot after cheap-shot. Why not Ron Stewart go on T.V and tell people where to put the money? Lets see how well his advice holds up. And if it does go wrong, lets also see if he will put clips of himself giving horrendous financial advice.
novpj Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Cramer is not stupid and I actually think he deliberately did not defend himself on the show. he is a smart trader and he knows when to take a small loss and get out; he and CNBC were suffering at Jon Stewart's hands and hence he came on took his beating and now its done; Stewart will move on to a diff topic and this will be soon forgotten.... Lot of Jon Stewart's arguments about buy and hold dont apply to Cramer and even his bad stock picks dont mean much. Cramer is a trader - his investment horizon is days - months max. He makes money by making a lot of bets and ensuring that his downside is less ie keeps tight stop losses and upside his high. He probably wins on only slightly more than 50% of his bets but by keeping his downside low he makes money. If people apply his advise on a buy and hold pattern then they will lose.
