Pakistans tour of Bangladesh cancelled

Recommended Posts

Not only did the BCCI make BD cancel the cricket tour but the BCCi also arranged for the soldier rebellion to suspend all the other sports as well to cover up their tracks. Cunning BCCI. Heera lal and Amar Singh can be in 2 places at the same time. BD and Pakiland. But i forgot.....is it the BCCI or RAW that is responsible for pak begging to US for money?

Younus urges swift action Pakistan captain Younus Khan has warned that cricket in the country will be ruined if long-term plans are not immediately put in place. More... Younus urges swift action 20 March 2009 Pakistan captain Younus Khan has warned that cricket in the country will be ruined if long-term plans are not immediately put in place to save the game. Pakistan's chances of hosting international matches at home were dealt a serious blow when armed gunmen attacked the convoy of the Sri Lankan cricket team while it was on its way to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Seven Pakistanis were killed when gunmen ambushed the team bus in Lahore earlier this month. Six Sri Lankan players were injured, along with assistant coach Paul Farbrace. Pakistan had already gone without playing a Test match the whole of last year with Australia, India and New Zealand pulling out of scheduled tours due to safety concerns. The Champions Trophy, which was scheduled to be held in Pakistan in September last year, was also postponed until this year and has been moved to South Africa. Younus urged the Pakistan Cricket Board and the government to take urgent measures to boost the game. "The attack on the Sri Lankan team has left even our players depressed and upset," Younus said. "It is a gloomy situation for us with so many cancellations and postponements since last year. "You will see people losing interest in cricket and youngsters no longer having cricket idols to look up to. "We need to concentrate on improving our domestic cricket standards and involve overseas players so that youngsters continue to follow the sport. "It is obvious we are facing problems everyday and the government, board and former players need to put their heads together and come up with long-term plans to counter the situation.” Younus said Pakistan should take a similar approach to the one South Africa took when it was isolated from international cricket during apartheid. A number of overseas players took part in South African domestic cricket while their national team was sidelined. "During their isolation, South Africa maintained high standards of cricket by having overseas players compete in domestic tournaments," he said. "That is why they made a big impact on their return to international cricket and in the 1992 World Cup.” Younus added that he was disappointed the limited-overs series against Bangladesh was cancelled. Pakistan were scheduled to play two Twenty20 internationals and five one-dayers in Bangladesh in a series beginning on March 10, but the tour was cancelled after the Bangladesh government refused to sanction permission due to security concerns. "I was disappointed with the Bangladesh tour not taking place, but I think our cricket suffered most when Australia and India refused to tour Pakistan last year," Younus said. Meanwhile, chief selector Abdul Qadir believed Pakistan could play the Tigers at a neutral venue. "Instead of scrambling to find new dates for the series, we could play Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi just before the series against Australia," he said. "I believe cricket should go ahead.” Pakistan are scheduled to play a one-day series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates from April 22.

Morgan laying the Red Carpet for Pakis

David Morgan: "It's important that other Full Members recognise the significance of playing against Pakistan" © Getty Images David Morgan, the ICC president, has said Pakistan would receive great support if they used England and Wales for "home" matches following the fallout from the Lahore terrorist attack. Bangladesh cancelled their hosting of Pakistan due to security concerns and the team's first international engagement will be in Dubai and Abu Dhabi next month for limited-overs matches against Australia. "They seem to want to play in England, and there will be a great deal of support should they want to play in England or Wales, with the Pakistani population in those two nations," Morgan told the Sydney Morning Herald. "The important thing is not to reduce the volume of international cricket, and I believe the other nations are very keen to give them every support." He said that as long as Pakistan's matches were broadcast on television, the people in the country would still be able to see their side perform. "In Pakistan, Test match cricket is not being followed by large numbers of people in stadiums," he said. "Obviously, home advantage is a very important thing, and they will clearly miss that." Morgan did not want Pakistan to become isolated after the events of March 3, when the Sri Lanka team bus and ICC officials were targets of the raid. Eight people were killed and seven members of the Sri Lanka squad suffered injuries. "It's produced some of the world's most attractive cricketers for 30 years, household names, perhaps disproportionately to any other country," Morgan said. "It's important that other Full Members recognise the significance of playing against Pakistan." © Cricinfo
As much as the Media does not want this -- it looks like Morgan wants this. I seriously hope some paki miscreant does something stupid and English learn a lesson. The prospect of Pounds from the Green Ghettos is too luring for Morgan. Go ahead Morgan -- be our guest and become the laughing stock of the whole world.

Great news. We can at least play on some decent cricket wickets lol in England. The fan turnout will be good too. Good positive comments.
Pakistani fans in UK suck, I'm sorry to say it, but its true, they have completely messed up watching cricket live at the ground for everybody. Because of their hooligan antics some years back, the policies of Lords and Oval have changed greatly, now no flags, no hooters, no musical instruments, nothing is allowed

Whatever happened a few years back is a very very positive step. Before -- you could jump into the field and walk up to the batsmen/fielder hug him shake hands with him etc etc -- completely compromising the security. But now thanks to these animals from Pakiland -- they have changed that aspect. Just imagine some Paki Terrorist (And yes you are living in a dream world if you think there are none in UK) walks into the field and shoves a dagger in Sachins tummy ? That was a distinct possibility. So whatever happened -- happened for the good of cricket.

Why don't you and your countrymen take swift action against your jihadi nutters instead of pamapering them like pet poodles. Jack ass
The eye can not see itself, knife can't cut itself, fingertip can't touch itself. So your question is moot and not realistic.
