King
They haven't sacked Ganguly for haven's sake, they are only trying to change captains. The same can be said about Rahul Dravid and Laxman. Fans from other parts don't seem to protest or anything but understand they have to move on. Anything relating to Ganguly has to come with so much drama Link to comment

Anything relating to Ganguly has to come with so much drama[/quote'] Simply because Dravid and Laxman don't stir up half the amount of passion Ganguly manages to, among Indian Cricket Fans. He is by far the most controversially successful Indian Cricketer of all time. He's been through everything and come out a winner every single time, which endears him even more to his fans. He cannot be wronged and will never be wrong in our eyes. What Buchanan is trying to do might be logical but what it will do is erode KKR's fanatical fanbase and will impact on gate/merchandising revenues etc. Which is why, SRK is busy controlling the damage. Nonsense- that is your POV Dravid and Laxman's contributions far exceed Ganguly's- the only difference is that they are not from Bengal where fans make more more noise about their "Prince" than other places. Do you have trouble reading? Where did I compare D&L's contributions with Ganguly's? And whether you like it or not, Ganguly will be remembered as someone who overcame adversities, mounted a magical comeback and retired a winner. Link to comment
Holysmoke
Dravid and Laxman's contributions far exceed Ganguly's No. Credit where it's due Suraj. Laxman's contribution to Indian cricket does not even COME CLOSE to Dada's contribution, nevermind "far exceed". Thats not even open for discussion. Link to comment

Was a lightning fast track in a domestic game against a trio of fast bowlers prepared to kill off his career? Was his character brought into question? Was he subjected to malicious gossip? Did he become public enemy #1 for almost all Indian fans? Was he written off by fans and pundits alike? Did Amarnath have people like you praying for his failures? Was Amarnath subjected to all this despite being India's greatest ever captain? Link to comment
suraj
What are these facts? Umm are you aware of Amarnath and his comebacks when there was no "Bengali" community burning effigies to support its hero those facts!! like facing the Windies pacemen, Imran khan at his prime and a World cup final MOM performance despite being kicked out of the team repeatedly and have 0 fan base support unlike the Gangulians who post pictures of "Dada's" stylish stance when he gets out for 0 those facts!! graphic23
Suraj, you said contributions to Indian cricket. I'm about as big a fan of Laxman as there is (perhaps second to Rohan :D) on this board, but Ganguly's exploits as a captain have been very very influential on Indian cricket. Link to comment
Holysmoke
holy can u please explain to me when did Ganguly score 281 against Aussies?? so you think 1 innings overshadows the greatest captain and one of the best 5 batsmen we've had? I'm sorry suraj, but to say that Laxman's contribution to Indian cricket is greater than Ganguly's is a huge injustice to Dada. Link to comment

Was Amarnath subjected to all this despite being India's greatest ever captain? What about off the field, Gambo? Amarnath moaned and called selectors 'a bunch of jokers'. Gangluddin fought, *****ed, moaned and pulled his strings to make sure Kaif, Bhajji, Yuvraj and Sehwag were given chances. Without him who knows, they might have been playing Ranji cricket a good while longer. He made sure Kumble got taken on tour to Australia in 03/04, without whom we'd probably have lost the series. He fought and pushed Srinath to come back to cricket, and allowed him the glory of a wonderful 2nd wind where he bowled India to the WC final. Link to comment
