criticism of the team is unwarranted, but there is no reason why yuvraj, sehwag and kartik ought not to be taken to task for their abysmmal batting where all three were guilty of gifting their wicket to the opposition in a display of callousness that was completely contrary to the prudence that was expected, nay warranted of them in the given circumstances. nonetheless, dravid's masterclass in the second innings has probably been the finest test innings i have seen since his half centuries in the west indies that spurred us to victory.

You are forgetting other possibilities. What if India gets all out with one and half sessions to spare with a lead of 150? The match would he wide open both ways.

India's plan for tomorrow if they are to make the most of the game should be : * Session 1 - Score at a regular rate and wickets are in hand going into session 2. Hopefully by the end of session 1 we would have a lead of say 30 or 40 runs. * Session 2 - If we have about 7 or 8 wickets in hand we should pick up the scoring rate and look to finish the session with a lead of say 150 runs. * Session 3 - Declare shortly into session 3 (not more than 2 overs in). The benefit of doing this is that the New Zealand batsman do not get the benefit of the 20 minute tea break to formulate a batting plan, but rather have 10 minutes to pad up and face the fresh combo of Ishant and Zaheer. They would need about 160 runs in 25 overs. A required run rate of over 6. India could then spend 25 overs with all out attack. The other option is to declare a few overs before tea, but if we do that we have to be prepared to defend a more attainable total such as say 140 runs to win in about 35 overs. This would give us 10 more overs to bowl New Zealand out :p. I hope India at least try to make a game out of this.

NZ with the likes of Ryder, McCullum, Ross Taylor and an inform Vettori can fancy chasing down 200 in 20 overs in this small ground, dead pitch, so declaration shud be ruled out. let their bowlers tire out. let us bat as long as possible. let us just ensure that we do not lose wickets in a hurry.safety first .

There is nothing in the pitch for Indian's to skittle the Kiwis if they ever get into a position to ask them to bat and chase a reasonable total...so there is no real point. It's a bat the day out and enhance personal record day tomorrow.
