At some point in time even Devang Gandhi must have had a better average than Sehwag, that doesn't make him better than or on par with Sehwag does it? :haha: This reminds me of Devang Gandhi's entry into international cricket and S Ramesh the left handed opener's response to his selection.
Ramesh's response is worth quoting, if only because it tells you the kind of guy he is: 'What, da!,' he went, 'given the bowling we get at the domestic level, why Devang Gandhi, even Mahatma Gandhi will score runs!'
:hysterical:
Haha, good one by S. Ramesh!

My memory is too vague for the specifics, but there was once a time, before Dhoni had started playing, when VVS at no.6 seemed a very bad match. He was constantly left to battle alone with tail-enders, but never had the game to enforce the pace in a partnership with a lower order batsman. Then, he did not want to open, Dravid was the team's no.3, Sach at no.4 and Saurav came at no.5. So, VVS' spot did 'seem' under the microscope constantly. Correspondingly, UV had just started his golden run in ODIs, when he powered India to many of those record chases. So, UV at no.6 instead of VVS did seems a viable option. Now, with UV at no.6 and MSD at no.7, it compliments VVS' languid style really well.

Laxman had an horrendous time in the start of his career. he was used as an opener, as a #7 in the first innings and #3 in second innings, got dropped mainly because he was a middle order bat, forced to open the innings and dropped when he failed.he played against good attacks too-Pak, SA, Australia. he was frustrated because he was not given a consistent run.the guy was dropped even after that epic 281! i remember he was dropped for a test against Zimbabwae , in favour of Sanjay Bangar who made his debut. he was harshly treated by selctors and had to prove his mettle time and again. in the fab4 , he was the one who was always treated shabbily, always had a Damocles's sword over his head. he had proved himself against all oppositions, on all surfaces, against pace/swing/seam/spin, bouncy wickets, turners. he deserves more respect from fans and Critics. playing at # 6 for a long time is not an easy job.he has to make many adjustments, unlike some players who are allowed to play their natural game. he does not get good support from the tail very often.that is one of the reasons why he does not have as many hundreds as he shud have had for his ability. As far as Yuvraj, he is not a rookie like M.Vijay in tests, come to think of it, he is way too senior for even Dhoni, Gambhir and established in one dayers before Sehwag. with so much of international experience, he shud be outshining all and sundry and ensure no one discusses about dropping him.attitude....... he has to put in more effort and apply himself to hone his skills as a better test batsman. u may score a one day hundred after spending the previous evening with a side actress till late night but test cricket is a different ball game, especially when playing away from sub continent. he has a looooooooooooooooong way to go. even in 2nd test 2nd innings, he played afew airy fairy shots and was lucky to survive the first few overs. but Laxman, Dravid, SRT were light years ahead in confidence and were in control of the situation.after 20 years on the circuit, after 42 test hundreds, 12700 runs, if SRT works his butt out in nets, why not Yuvraj? what you sow, that u reap, in test cricket!

Interesting way to explain the diff between ODI and Test cricket in a Yuvrajish form of expression :cantstop:

Thats why I don't like test cricket ODIs are better & 20-20 is the best!!!! You can be a playboy every night and still the best player in 20-20:two_thumbs_up: Wonder how much time VVS spends on his fitness:hmmm::hmmm:

Well' date=' at least he's not spending random time in the gym hoping to become as powerful as Viv Richards... and [b']his father doesn't make comments about how Indian cricket is cheating his son.. every 2 days.
Oh Yograj just practices his acting skills Is Yuvi also going to try "Black and lovely" to look like Viv??
