Every party fields candidates based on the demographics of the constituency. It' very likely Azhar was pitted against Muslims from all major parties.

Desi Cartman Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 Moradabad has 45% muslim population and is one of the most sensitive areas but in this case Im sure hindus have voted for him as well . Mordabad is scary , I lived there for 3-4 years and it had some of the worst riots during that time. The problem in Mordababd is that most mulims are laborers and Hindus actually own the businesses. With more than 45% population being muslim I was shocked to see the number of muslims in my school was less than 10%. There is hatred between the communities and the areas are also divided. BTW Moradabad also had shia-sunni riots often
