ViruRulez
NEW DELHI: Bollywood celebrities may have made a quick exit but IPL2 was a much bigger hit than last year. Snap polls suggest that 11.4 million viewers tuned in to watch the nail-biting final between Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers. The viewership for last year's final was 8.7 million. So, IPL 2 was a much bigger success then IPL 1 according to TV viewership too. But is this including viewership only in India or outside too. I am sure viewership in SA must have been tremendous too. So, how is this viewership counted. :hmmm:

Zap_Brannigan
That seems too low. A decent prime time TV show in the US like lost puts up those kinda numbers. Something like American idol sometimes goes over 30 million viewers.Superbowl touches a hundred million. The T20 WC reached 400 million. Considering that Sony paid 2 billion $ for 10 year right, those numbers are extremely low. A 10 million viewership in US leads to potentially 40,000 $ (average wage of an American)* 10 million. Now do the math for India. Its too low to sustain such high price.

Zap_Brannigan
Sony made around 500 crores net profit from IPL 2 which also increased from last year's figures of 300-400 crores Exactly why i doubt these viewership numbers. Why would advertisers pay such hefty amounts for 10 million viewers ?? 400 million watched the T20 WC finals and the ad price was no bigger.
