mad_max Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Re: Which Cricket Bat?? Played with few bats and i prefer to use Kookaburra bats. But my budget only allows me to play with cheaper bats. I currently use Robinson Sports bat. Made in India somewhere its an English Willow. I think Mongia and Ganga use these bats. The balance of the bat is very very good and when the ball is hit on the sweet spot they race away to the boundry. Kookaburra though are something else. In my hand they just feel right. Easy lift and easy to bring them down. they make the best sound. Lighter then most other bats i have used. Too expensive though.

A guy from SIDS (I guess its Pakistani company) is offering their Monster (40 mm thickness) for 7,000/-.. I am in 2 minds - either go for a custom bat (lot cheaper but doubt with the quality & authenticity of the willow) or either SG, BDM, SS etc.. What do you think?

I got BDM Ambasador for INR 5000 last month. You will have to bargain. Don't go by M.R.P. It came with the bat cover, fixed toe protector and English tape. I used the bats in nets and it indeed has a terrific balance. Very easy to play variety of strokes. English willow. GM is usually of top class quality but bit higher priced than BDM. GM does not cracks as much as other brands do. Both BDM and Gm are sturdy and durable bats. I checked the new SM Pinto brand in shop but the quality does not matches of other established brands. Even the handles were not fixed properly. You will clearly see the lesser quality by just having a good look at it. The shop keeper will try to sell it though.

King Tendulkar Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 The amount of lines show quality. More lines and better the bat in terms of impact. Only problem with more lined bats and so guns, is that they dont last as long and break easier. But while you have them they are awesome
