Really? How did you get to read this real pakistani papers? There was a site, probably a NGO site. which used to translate local language papers into English. Some paki papers suggested that it was a conspiracy to keep Paki uneducated by sending the Indian team to tour pakistan back in 2004 during exam time. Real pakistan papers indeed!!

Friday Times is pretty good too. And what you call the toilet paper of India is the largest selling english newspaper in the world. So I stand by my initial comments of some Pakistani papers being better than some of the biggest Indian papers. Considering that India is a democracy with stronger liberal traditions than Pakistan' date= that's not something we should be happy about.
I thought often Pakistan media is threatned and held hostage by the govt/establishment :nervous: Wasn't Geo TV shutdown a year ago by the Pak Govt? Website media could be terrible but I thought India can express it's view way liberal than say in Pakistan?

Yes there have been occasional issues with the government trying to gag the media, but they've been pretty unsuccessful at it, especially as far as the print media is concerned. Yes, India has much greater press freedom, which is why its depressing to note that our media usually manages to ignore most of the important news, or pays lip service to it while sensationalizing crime stories etc. There is a difference in attitude. By and large, the Pakistani media seems to be aware of its responsibilities as one of the last remaining independent institutions in that country, and strives hard to maintain this character even in the face of official onslaught. Indian media usually doesn't have to fight to safeguard its freedom, but has become commercialised to an extent so as to become non serious.

please don't laugh at pakistani media, before looking at what the indian media offers. i dont think india would be able to digest a thought of having majority of all their matches being shifted to pakistan had the situation been turned around. note: think of this as you would think of the world being round..... either way, pakistan and india will be biased.....we just can't mix the two up

the logistics of the shift would be a nightmare-teams would be flying all around the place.
Surely logistics cannot be a serious problem. Have all the group matches involving some four teams - Pakistan, WI, Netherlands, NZ for eg - in one bunch in Dubai in the space of a week or 10 days. Same way for the super-6. Even otherwise, how much time does it take to fly from Dubai to India ? Dubai - Chennai, with time zone change, takes 5:30 hours. So the actual flight time from Dubai - Mumbai should be like 2-3 hours. Can't be too long than a Mohali - Colombo flight. BCCI should be the last institution in the world to talk about any principles, let alone about Pakistan moving their matches to another country. It is just that BCCI does not want to part with a few extra bucks that they would get in hosting those alloted to Pakistan.

Although I am no fan of Pakistan' date=' read some real Pakistani papers, unfortunately they can put some of the biggest Indian papers to shame.[/quote'] I have been reading Dawn for 3 years now and its very niche news with the majority of them being the views of a few people. The section of the online dawn that is most insightful is the articles section. But than again its just the views of some people. Even TOI is a lot bigger coverage and content wise than dawn. But yes Dawn is good if you want to form a definitive opinion about the country. With most indian papers you wont b able to do that because they arent so monotonous / one sided. They are more balanced.

You realize that the BCCI gets 750,000$ per game and everything else goes to the ICC? I am guessing that most of that would end up with the stadium and state cricket organization and BCCI would get even less of that 750,000$. So if BCCI gets an extra 7 or so games, it stands to say that they will get a percentage of 5million $. So BCCI is doing all this to add an extra 5 million $ to its kitty when it earned 250 million dollars last year which is only bound to increase with the champions trophy coming up. Sounds like a great plan. Besides its an honor to hold a WC, not a privilege. UAE or other non-test playing country hasn't earned it. Why the hell should they get to host it just because Pak is not capable of it. It is ICC's tournament and they can hold it anywhere they want and by they i mean the member countries. They agreed upon pakistan along with others but pak lost its chance. As simple as that.

Only in theory.

Neither did Netherlands or Ireland in 1999. UAE is an associate and that is more than enough.

What i meant was the holding the WC in UAE is not for UAE but for Pakistan. Holland and Ireland co-holding was a different scenario compared to this(and was done because they didnt want England to be the only country to hold the WC alone). If ICC decides that they want to spread the game in UAE, they can hold the game in UAE and the money going to UAE cricket board. But this is hiring UAE stadiums by PCB. You still think that BCCI cares about that money and it was the only reason that they voted for moving the matches from Pak?? I wonder how much money Eng,Aus, SAF and others who voted for pulling the games from Pak got.

Nice print out but it's the same message on every print..... What flags are they BTW? I thought only effigies are burnt, looks like cricket bats are burnt too or perhaps the cricket bats burn longer than effigies and would rather burn cricket bats in this time of recession? :haha:

Strangely though I was watching one of the videos on youtube and they said 5 died in Pakistan protesting against Denmark.... I thought well shouldn't it be Denmark that should pay and not the locals? This is a bit like that, some burn their own home protesting against some atrocities that happen to them outside their country.

England choose to share it with Netherlands and Ireland. Whether they did or not would have made no difference to the success of their bid. IIRC, it was already agreed in 1996 that England will get the next world cup. What I am trying to stress is that BCCI has no real base or strong/valid reason to insist where Pakistan should hold their matches. If it is not the matter of money, it may just to show PCB who is the boss. Also I am not saying that I want to see some matches in Dubai, just that the reasons suggested to prevent it are lame.
