akshayxyz Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I think its chakri :hmmmm2: :haha: :haha: Chakri renamed as kachri!!!! :cantstop: Yeah! There is no correct answer. Every region/town have their own terms - and it can change with time too. Following is what we grew up with: Chakri (I do not remember using this term)- signifies the round shape. Kachri - Almost all snacks which make 'crunchy' sounds. In our place, times - anything which is made using this process is called kachri. - some raw material ( dal-dough, sabudana paste, rice paste) - sun-dry it, and fry it when you want to serve/eat. - regardless of the shape Chips - specific word for dried half-boiled potato slices Papad - when the above mentioned dough/paste is dried in shape of round-disc.... still a type of kachri though. And then there is another category - Besan dough - fried then and there..and depending upon shape it can be - mathri, nama-paarey, shakkar-paarey...
