Don Sharma Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I think an all rounder will replace Freddie and not Bell. Surely they can't go in with six bastmen unless they want to draw a match.So it would be Bell/ Bopara for the #3 in the coming years. But personally I prefer Robert Key.

But with the current set of bowlers that they have got they will struggle to take 20 wickets unless they play a third/ fourth seamer in the form of an all rounder. I am not a big fan of Bell even though he averages 40. Just when he looks set he gets out. I rather prefer hit or miss players to the Bells, the Sinclairs and the Campbells.

One may or may not have the technique to play at no3, but its always within one's capacity to put a price on his wicket. Give it your best is something everyone can do.

bharat297 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Bopara is a good player however this series has exposed some major technical flaws in his game. Bopara is probably 2-3 years away from a test spot. i think England should seriously consider bringing in Owais Shah or Rob Key next game
