devla
Koertzen is the second the reach 100 tests and ironically he's going the Bucknor route. He has made so many mistakes recently. Why are they considered so indispensable? Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Because there's nobody better. Look in India. The 'top' guys who stand in Ranji knockout games and Duleep games are CRAP. Some of them still can't figure out WTF the LBW law is. Guys like Saheba are among the best umpires in the country and are mediocre. The same goes in much of England, all the West Indies, South Africa, etc. In Australia Paul Reiffel's a decent umpire on the domestic circuit, unsurprising as he's younger with far better eyesight than fogeys like Bucknor and Koertzen and a player's insight to the game that might also help when taking things like LBWs on pitches and dealing with players into account. That's about it. I have no problem with technology playing a more active role in umpiring soon as well, largely because international umpires right now are generally crap with no better ones coming along, and the game can't be killed by **** umpiring from half blind idiots. Mamu
Technology doesn't have to be as complicated as they make it sound. It should be a simple rule -- if the 3rd umpire feels the decision given by the umpires on the field is wroing, he can reverse it immediately. Why even bother referring and stuff. Lets keep it simple and you will see 80% of mistakes gone. Link to comment
Bradman99
He had an ordinary test, that's for sure, but he's usually not too bad. I still think Aleem Dar is the best, but even he makes mistakes too. Technology will help a lot. Link to comment
Mamu
1) Umpiring and 2) Chucking seems to be the bane of cricket. ICC has got no clue how to resolve these two issues and is chasing its tail trying to figure it out. Link to comment

DomainK
Umpiring standards have now hit an all time low. Ashes, BD-WI and Pak-Lanka.....all three are witnessing some horrible decisions. Link to comment
Mamu
Umpiring standards have now hit an all time low. Ashes' date=' BD-WI and Pak-Lanka.....all three are witnessing some horrible decisions.[/quote'] Umpiring has always been Bad. Problem has always been with people who denied the problems and refused to seek alternatives. ICC and support from some countries like Aus and even Eng that everything is fine with umpiring has made it what it has been. Then there is Dave the F'ing Richardson who came out with a statement saying that the number of correct decisions in Cricket is comparable to MLB. Absolute bunch of bloody Rubbish. He obvisouly made these statements knowing damn well that 90% of cricketing world does not know/understand baseball -- so he pulled some crap out of his ***** and threw it there. For one -- in Baseball look at the umpires gettiing 'Run-Outs' with 95% accuracy and compare that with cricket -- I mean cricket has alreadt moved to 3rd umpires in Run-Outs for 15 years now and Thank God for that. The umpires couldnt get Run-Outs to save their lives if it depended on that. Link to comment
MUMBAISKIPPER
umpiring has never been consistent in the world of cricket.I just cannot forget the incident during India's tour of Australia in the year 1999 when Daryl harper gave Tendulkar out SHOULDER BEFORE WICKET...one of the most shocking decisions I have ever seen...daryl harper still defends it..can u believe it?
