TaNk
KARACHI (Reuters) - Former test captain Javed Miandad has been appointed as batting consultant to prepare Pakistan for next month's Champions Trophy in South Africa, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Thursday. Pakistan's batting repeatedly collapsed on the recent tour of Sri Lanka, where they lost the test and one-day series, prompting the PCB to call on former national coach Miandad. "Recent results in Sri Lanka suggest that we need a professional batting coach with the team so we asked Miandad to help us out and he has agreed," PCB chairman Ejaz Butt told a news conference on Thursday. TaNk
Miandad is now PCB's batting consultant Karachi, Aug 13 (IANS) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Thursday appointed former captain Javed Miandad as its batting consultant following the national team's disastrous tour of Sri Lanka this summer. PCB chairman Ijaz Butt said Miandad has been asked to help Pakistan's struggling batsmen ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy that gets under way in South Africa from Sep 22. 'Our performance in Sri Lanka was very disappointing and the main reason behind it was our batting failures. That is why we have decided to get help from Miandad who is one of the world's greatest batsmen,' Butt said at a press conference. Pakistan lost the three-match Test series 0-2 after two inexplicable batting collapses in Galle and Colombo. They also went on to lose the first three One-day Internationals before making a comeback to win the last two ODIs and the one-off Twenty20 International Wednesday. Miandad is Pakistan's highest run-getter in Test history. He is currently serving as PCB's director-general. The PCB has also asked Miandad to help the country's under-19 team which will be featuring in the youth World Cup to be held in New Zealand next March. Link to comment

siddhu
Here we go again... back to the circular logic of the donkeys... 1) If coach is Pakistani and we loose a test series, fire him. Hire JM as temporary coach. 2) Make him permanent (without offering him a contract of anything):winky: 2) If coach is JM and series lost, fire him and hire a "outsider" coach... 3) If coach is an outsider, all Past and present "legends" make noise to fire him. 4) If series lost, fire the "outsider" coach, as "he is not interested in improving Pak cricket and only interested in his paycheck". 5) Hire which ever "legend" is free. and fire them if series lost. go back to step 1 I will never understand these clowns. Their modus operandi is completely devoid of any kind of logic. PCB and their cricket fans are all alike. The fans jump up and down if they loose one match to fire people who failed and PCB obliges. The same is with their administration. I bet even the circus people are better administrators then these clowns. Link to comment

Anonymous
I thought they were gonna hire Saeed Anwar. Miandad as batting consultant for a series in SA is a joke... Link to comment
Zap_Brannigan
Maybe they will add in a couple of pakistani umpires in the coaching staff. Then Miandad can teach the taufeeq Umars, how not to get LBW. But somehow i see a huge hole in that plan. Link to comment
