What happens if fielder manages to stop ball going to boundary, he thinks he has stopped, but his feet just touched the rope....he throws back to keeper and there is run out at Striker's end?? What happens?? He is clearly not out as it was boundary....

Re: Hypothetical situation The moment the ball is actually a boundary ,its out of play. Anything that happens after that is irrelevant. So , its a 4....

According to the new regulations, the third umpire checks all doubtful boundary decisions regardles whether on field umpires refer it or no. So the batsman will be called back as soon as the third umpire watches the replay.

Re: Hypothetical situation Trouble is Batsman cannot apeal for this. So if umpires dont bother, then it may go unnoticed. It all depends on how umpire reacts. Cuz tching boudary rope means 4 and the ball is dead.
