Utter bull. Sachin doesn't have a better technique than Lara. This is the fanboy in you taking over. Both have perfect techniques which suits their individual style.
no fanboy.i am a great fan of Lara.but i cant see how Lara's technique is as good as SRT's.SRT has almost perfect technique.
Viru IS a once a lifetime player. If you cannot accept that, you're living in denial.
i do accept that.i am a very big fan of Veeru, the first word that comes to my mind wen i think of him is 'wow'.in his own way,he is once in a lifetime, the cavalier n fearless approach to batting is fantastic.but he is no Genius. n u havent answered my 2nd question about him adapting, why he averages under 30 in both SA n NZ where the ball swings around

Why' date=' Sachin filed a patent for "perfect technique" with USPTO? :haha:[/quote'] was that a joke?i dont know what u wanna say
Why is Sachin so pathetic in 4th innings?
Sachin averages 36.Veeru averages 30 in 4th innings.who is more pathetic:haha:

Lord, You have no clue what you are talking about. Do you even realize that opening the batting is the toughest job ? One of those NZ series was on those wonderbra pitches..where the entire batting was a dismal failure we struggled to reach 100 as a team - it was his first year as opener facing a rampaging Bond. he still averages 40 odd in England , not much worse than Sunny and averages almost 60 in Australia in pitches similar to SA. Even Dravid- who is a better technician than SRT, is not comfortable opening. Wondered why SRT who opens the batting in ODIS has never considered opening in Tests...even as we struggled throughout 90's for decent openers ? You are blind in your bias in not acknowledging Viru's genius.

for the nth time.i am a great fan of Viru.hes an awesome cricketer, one of my fav..i know opening is a tough job n kudos to Sehwag for succeeding in that.i just put my opinion on him n some how u thought i was downplaying his achievements wen i am not. i am going right now to have a nap.i will answer ur other questions tomorrow.good night

Or let me put it this way...would your hero average 50+ opening the batting ? If yes...why din't he do this favour to us through the 90's ?
he wasnt because he wasnt asked to he didnt need to.Opening is not the only position in batting line-up.we needed a solid MO as much.Opening was thought of as specialist job.before Ganguly.it was Ganguly(who u slate btw) had the courage to ask a MO player to open.Veeru accepted this role because he had no choice.he was a noob.there was no place in MO.

I should've known better than to expect a fanboy to get it :winky:
or is it u have no clue what u wanna say n are coming up with lame one-liners.if i am a fanboy,u r a SRT hater
Let's agree both are :hysterical: This thread is about the genius of Viru. Let's not distract it anymore!
So u saying Viru is pathetic?:omg:but didnt u say he is a genius? u sound confused

again i will say ,Veeru is a great n aweome player.u have conveniently ignored all the praise i showered on him n pretended as if i hate him n downplaying his achievements.all i said that he struggles against inswing(which u havent challenged yet) n that IMHO he would have struggled in 90s.that he struggles against inswing is a fact.n that is truly an awesome player despite that is also a fact.is that so hard to grasp?where i am biased? Viru played only 4 games in Eng as opposed to SMG's16.n all those 4 were at the start of his career wen nobody knew of his weakness.n wickets in SA have greater swing than Aus nowadays. again i will say Veeru is a great player but no Genius.if he is genius, then Ponting,Kallis,RD,Sanga all r geniuses which doesnt seem right.there cant be so many geniuses

What cricket argument? That Viru cannot play inswing? That he wouldn't average 50 in the 90's? :haha: Those are not arguments, but your nonsensical surmises. Get the difference?
that Viru struggles against inswing is a fact, numerous times in his career,he has fallen to inswingers.his technique is just not made to handle inswing.not that it is bad thing.these days there is hardly any swing.n Veeru is brutal on other deliveries that he would struggle in 90's in just my opinion.u dont have to agree with it.but it is nothing to get worked up about

I think Lord, Viru struggled more against in swingers when his leg side game was not that developed. For quite sometime after his debut, he was a predominantly offside player with limited shots on the onside. He even played the flick off his pads quite less....he preferred to back off a couple of steps and hit it to the offside. There, he was bound to have problems because of footwork. Inswingers so frequently cramped him up and his footwork was all over the place. But then, he worked hard on his leg side game and is more comfortable playing the inswingers closer to his body. If he is cramped for room outside the off stump, he has a few shots he can play on the on side. He is much better off now.

agreed that he has improved his leg side play a lot but still i think a good inswinger will always trouble him.he does not move his feet leaving the gap b/w bat n pad n hence has problems

Wrong. Incorrect. It's not a fact. It's a myth. Just like the myth you propagated before - "Sachin has a better technique than Lara".
That is outrageous. Lara is known as an unorthodox player. He is not known for great technique. Sachin is not only better, he is miles ahead of Lara when it comes to orthodox technique.

Accept it because a fanboy is going hoarse? No' date=' thanks.[/quote'] so DomainK is also a fanboy?patriot also said that Lara's technique is inferior to SRT.what about that?if telling things the way they r makes me a fanboy, then i cant help it. n u havent answered my question:what makes u think Lara's technique is as good as or better than SRT?

:hysterical: Even greats like Ian Chappel have only ventured so far as to say that Sachin is probably a better player of fast bowling whilst Lara handles spin better. And here we have a complete nobody like you authoritatively proclaiming (without any rhyme or reason) why Sachin is better! Good job, fanboy!
lol nowhere i have claimed that SRT is better.are u seeing things.i only said.'SRT's technique is better than Lara.if,to u,that means that SRT is better than Lara, then it is not my fault,u need help
See, why I called you a thickskull? Where the feck did I claim that Lara has a superior technique?
but u opposed vehemently wen i said that SRT's technique is better.so it is safe to assume thatu either consider Lara's technique better or equally good as SRT's
Regardless, why should I answer that question - you are the one who made an assertion and you should supply the reason (you have none).
i have the reason.unlike Lara,SRT has a compact defense, there is no space b/w bat n pad wen he meets the ball.his bat comes down dead straight unlike Lara
Is it too hard for you to comprehend what I said - Lara and Sachin, both, have different techniques which worked best for them respectively. Murali found Lara more challenging - why would he say that if the "fact" is that Sachin's got a better technique? Likewise, Warne found Sachin difficult to master - so it's not as cut and dried as you think.
Murali found Lara challenging because he had the amazing ability of driving the ball out of the rough against the spin to midwicket, like SRT did to Warne.he(Lara) was awesome against spin-using his feet n negating the spin repeatedly.his technique had little to do with it i'm not saying his technique was bad.i'm saying it was inferior to SRT
PS: Please do me a favour and don't reply to this post - this thread is about Viru alone.
ok from next time

If Sehwag had started playing before Sachin, I am a 100% sure that he would have become my all-time most favorite player. And not without reason. Veeru brought in a sense of fearlessness, courage and audacity that was never seen before in any of our cricketers. Sure, there were lots of talented players who came before him, but none could match his no-fear approach. He was also the one who pioneered the wonderful attitude of ‘I couldn’t care less about stats and numbers..’ among our cricketers and spawned a whole generation of players with similar attitudes who came after him. Quite literally, our test record (especially abroad) can divided into two parts; Pre-Sehwag and post Sehwag eras.
