Lord Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 1.Emergence of Nehra as a reliable bowler 2.Mishra n Virat players of the future 3.we came to know that Nayar is NOT an allrounder.hes a handy lower order that can hit big but he cant bowl.even Dhoni bowled faster than him 4.talking of Dhoni,he can unleash his 140+thunderbolts if the wicket is seaming.
DomainK Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Dhoni is turning out to be quite a cricketer. He can do everything related to cricket.

This is making the same mistake again. Ishant was a "reliable bowler" after 1 series. He was in the team for 2 years without improving. Same performance dip from all our other bowlers as well. Nehra needs to be better for a longer time to make his place permanent in the side. Same goes for Virat.

DomainK Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I think Nehra's problem is that once he gets hit for a boundary or two in the first over, he loses his rhythm completely and he panics. But if he can hit the right line and length in the first over, he can be good for the rest of the match. And I don't think he is the solution in the absence of ZAK. Seems we will have to bring the drama queen back.

Aadhavzone Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Harbhajan's Over-rating & Mishra/Ojha's worth! Dravid cant continue anymore in ODIz Luck Should favor!

DomainK Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 What abt YP May be a few more matches. He has talent. Someone needs to hammer some sense into him. Throwing those color glasses away would be a good start. May be if he looks less stupid, he will act less stupid. I think his younger brother will soon take his place in the team. He is a better all rounder.
Aadhavzone Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 i would like to see A Nayar in place of Y Pathan!
Riley's Girl Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Nehra, Mishra, Kohli & Praveen may have some of the answers for us. Will have to see if they can be cosistent over long periods. MAHI. Is there anything the man can't do?
Sachinism Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 We know where the problem lies. MS has lost his ability to win tosses

I agree to some extent to most of the points. But at the same time, I would not trust Virat or Nehra just on the basis of a few games. They have proved in the past too that they are inconsistent and so I will wait for sometime. Nehra seems a lot better and can be relied for sometime but I would not say Virat is the perfect choice. I find him a bit over rated a bit and he needs to improve a lot before he can make a permanent place in the Indian team. I think Rohit and Jadeja are better contenders than him maybe keeping in mind their all rounder capabilities. Kohli has to improve his SR before he can make into the team. He has got a SR of less than 70 ever since he came into the team. But for ODIs we need somebody who can maintain a SR of at least 90 consistently. If I negate the strike rate, then I will opt for Jadeja instead because his temperament is better and he has hardly been given any chances in ODI. Moreover, Jadeja is a lot better with the ball and at least 5-8 overs can be easily extracted from him. Both are of almost the same age and were in the same U-19 team and so age also does not make difference. Regarding Nayar he is not fit for bowling in ODIs. If we need as an all rounder then Praveen/Irfan are lot better. Dhoni's bowling was good for a start and hope he improves his batting though I dont want him to take much pressure of batting, bowling, wicketkeeping etc. Mishra is surely a good find and if needed he and Ojha can even give tough competition to Bhajji in the future.

Jadeja is a good find too as a allrounder, but he guts stuck,in T20 he was main reason for our loss to Eng.even tho he shouldnt have sent in the first place about Dhoni i said that he should be used wen the wicket is seaming or two bowl one-off over to unsettle the batsmen
Aadhavzone Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Nehra has always been an effective striking and economic bowler!
Anakin Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 YP is useless, should be beyond any doubt by now.
